Glencadam 15 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed August 26, 2016 (edited August 5, 2017)Whiskey Guild's Whiskey Cruise 2016 - Not much I can write amidst the chaos, but compared to 30 something other whiskies, this particular bottling stood out the most. I am certainly tracking this one down! -

Clontarf 1014 Blended Irish Whiskey
Blended — Ireland
Reviewed August 9, 2016 (edited April 24, 2018)Lately I've been finding that most bottom shelf Irish whiskies taste the same. At $20 though I'd take it over the rest. This one is easily drinkable, yet loses its edge as it opens up over time, and totally falls apart on the finish. Slight spice, certainly vanilla sweetness. A touch of lemon...and maybe banana. I dunno...maybe I'm just bananas myself. -
Bruichladdich Islay Barley Rockside Farm 2007
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed August 7, 2016 (edited August 5, 2017)Not really unique save for the delightful finish that tastes like your sucking on a sweet plank of wood. The nose is salty, with hints of bacon, citrus, and a floral fragrance. The mouthfeel is full, zesty, lemon, and certainly malty. This is my third bottling of Bruichladdich that I have tried, including the Laddie and Port Charlotte. Sadly none of these have won me over. -
Since there is no disclosure as to where this is coming from, I couldn't give this an incredibly honest review. The only thing that keeps this blend separated from the rest is that there is a little less alcohol on the nose, and more spice on the palate. Even then I'm not sure if it would stand out in a side by side tasting.

Bulleit Rye
Rye — Indiana (bottled in Kentucky), USA
Reviewed August 4, 2016 (edited September 28, 2018)Water down and pretty basic considering what else is out there. A confident step up from the original Bulleit tough. As for a brief description: fruity, spicy, and floral nose. A touch of spice on palate, coupled with caramel and toffee. And that's all I can really say besides the fact that I don't even consider it beginners rye. More like beginners whiskey. -
Redbreast 12 Year Cask Strength
Single Pot Still — Ireland
Reviewed July 20, 2016 (edited January 25, 2018)I'm going back on my original review and giving this a 5. This stuff is perfect, and I love it! Amber color from the casks, perfumed nose with strong presence of cherry, and clean sweet fruits. Over time the nose softens up and introduces a little vanilla. Once you taste it...BOOM! A sharp commanding blast in the mouth. Bolstering pot still, intense pepper, and a little sherry. Introducing a few drops of water (but probably wasn't enough), adds more vanilla, mellow cherry, brown sugar, more pot still, and a touch of honey. The finish is long, and it BURNS. Oaky dried fruits afterward. Now I've had high ABV whiskey before, and none have demanded as much of your attention as this one...for the best i would say. I would highly recommend this to anybody who thinks that Irish whiskey is too "basic". Also, bourbon lovers. -
Glendalough Double Barrel Single Grain
Single Grain — Ireland
Reviewed July 9, 2016 (edited April 24, 2018)Much different than their single malts. For a young whiskey this doesn't really show it. You get a healthy dose of honeyed bourbon spice, while it develops that sweet sherry tang before leaving a crisp woody finish. Most certainly something to be sought after to replace your other everyday Irish sippers.
