Barrell Seagrass
Rye — (bottled in) Kentucky, Multiple Countries
Reviewed February 21, 2022 (edited May 4, 2022)Love the fruit and spice aromas, however the bottle I have acquired is so rye spice forward that even a large cube in the pour can't knock down the spice and/or heat to get to the other flavors. Finishes with a medium burn. I love ryes, but the spice of this one is way too overpowering to use the word enjoy when describing the palate. -
Solid backbone and a lot of flavors. Unfortunately there is a cinnamon spice and harsh oak that is overpowering much of the complexity. I am hoping a little more time may open this up more. But for now, it needs a cube to cut the overpowering spice. This is hard for me to say as I want to love this bourbon of respect and I love the bite of ryes. This dry cinnamon spice on tongue and throat is just too much to overcome neat. Will keep trying this over time.
