Old Grand-Dad Bonded Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 31, 2014 (edited November 24, 2015)A sniff of this bourbon will consume your nose in a pleasant way. I smelled a sweet hint of citrus with every inhale. Taken neat, it is strong on the middle of the tongue but surprisingly smooth going down. The taste lingers in a delicate manner, moving from the middle of the tongue to the sides. A bit of water brings out the flavor and this is a great go to on the rocks. If you do not like a sweeter whiskey, this may not be for you. -
New Holland Beer Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Indiana (bottled in Michigan), USA
Reviewed October 8, 2014 (edited October 2, 2018)The smell is sweet with a hint of citrus. A long inhale tickles the nostrils in a pleasant manner. The Dragon's Milk has made quit the impact on the aroma. Neat it is dull in the beginning, but lingers on the sides of the tongue afterwards. It does not burn going down, but it has an aftertaste that is not as pleasant as I would like. It transitions to the back of the tongue and throat. It is actually a bit dull. Heavy on the tongue but not a very satisfying finish. On ice, or with some water, the Dragon's Milk comes out much more. The taste is more pleasant than the neat option. It hits the back of the tongue and lingers a bit, but is an easier, milder drink.
