I got an instant hit of black cherry in the nose. Some smokey notes and orange peel as well. The high proof really engulfs your mouth with heat and peppery spice, but it’s surprisingly smooth in its finish. I got a hint of peanut in the finish with a neat pour. Some of the sweeter flavors came out with some ice. Overall, a nice bottle.

I was initially hit with some cinnamon, black pepper, and orange peel. The barrel proof adds some heat that lingers, but it isn’t unpleasant. A little bit is water brings out vanilla and black cherry notes and subdues the heat a bit.

I have been tasting more scotch whiskies lately and got a chance to try a glass of this. Taste definitely had some wood and smoke flavors. Fruity and medicinal with black licorice. A really complex whiskey. Smooth as well, but ultimately not for me as a novice scotch drinker.

Nose is sweet with maple, charcoal, and some floral notes. Really smooth going down. Strong rye as it lingers in the mouth and on the tongue, but also surprisingly light.

Smoky aroma with some charcoal and floral notes. Nice rye and peppery taste. Smooth finish. Probably good for a cocktail, but doesn’t have a strong enough rye flavor to offset the sweetness of ingredients like vermouth and simple syrup

The rye hits like a kick in the mouth, which is a good thing of you like ryes. Nose was full of citrus for me, but as it got more air, I started to get hints of cinnamon. Taste evolved as well. Full of rye and pepper, pretty spicy. But then the finish of cinnamon that the professional tasting notes outlines as well. Overall, a good sipping whiskey. Plan to use this for a variety of cocktails as well.

Nose has cherry and orange peel. Maybe some allspice as well. Taste is harsh at the first touch. Just not very smooth. Lingers, but not in a good way. Much smoother with a few drops of water. I feel like this would be a good Manhattan whisky. It’s just a little pricey for me to use it for that.

Very good daily sipper neat or chilled. Black cherry on the nose. Maybe even a hint of vanilla. Really hits the whole surface of the tongue and goes down smooth. You get some of the grain notes in the after taste as it lingers. It’s initially sweet once you take a sip, but that fades into some black pepper, but not enough to over power it.
