Tastes

At full strength the smell is oily and rich, like 90% dark chocolate, and the taste is similar but with loads of smoke and spice. With a drop of water, Smell: dark chocolate, malt and smoke Taste: rich and oily mouthfeel - which I love - sweet savoury, which I think is the malt; and ashy peat Finish: long and smoky, almost cigarette feel in the mouth I very much like this, but still prefer other Isla malts. At $136 au, I’d probably reach for them - but that’s just preference. It’s delicious.

Smell: orange, salt and brine Taste: salty, toffee, brine and smoke Finish: chilli aftertaste, almost tingly on the mouth

Tasting previous bottling (2019) This one’s lovely, but not complex. It’s also much cheaper then comparable whiskys. Smell: peaty and toffee, very rich Taste: wonderfully oily texture, fruity and spicy with smoke on the end Finish: for how oily it felt, it didn’t stay for very long; feeling residue spice and smokiness

Nose: floral, honey, light twiggy smoke Taste: toffee, honey, smoke Finish: nice long finish of twiggy smoke. Still quite oily for 43% Absolutely delicious, everything a good whisky hopes to be. It’s too expensive, and it should be a higher strength, but I can’t argue with something so yummy

Nose: honey, waxy, distant lemon Taste: brine, honey, lemon End: light twiggy peat, honey

Nose: peat, salt, vegetation, Taste: sweet, chilli, toffee and dark chocolate Finish: dark chocolate and smoky

Still enjoy this whiskey, but the further threw the bottle the more i figured it out. Tastes and smells like dark chocolate covered shortbread.

Nose: meaty, smoke, alcohol burn. Taste: Pork, coffee, rich and full bodied, then i'm hit with spices. Finish: warm tingly smoke, leaves a mouthwatering feeling in my mouth. The finish lingers even after that with nutty almond flavors and bitterness.
