TX Blended Whiskey
Blended American Whiskey — (bottled in) Texas, USA
Reviewed December 19, 2016 (edited September 1, 2017)ridiculously overpriced for what is essentially maker's mark blended with neutral grain vanilla flavored spirit. If you know you are getting something sweet, it isn't half bad. If you are expecting an actual bourbon taste, it is highly disappointing. It can be most accurately described as one comment I read, "a childrens whiskey, if such a thing existed". (That wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing if it weren't $40 a bottle) -
William Larue Weller Bourbon (Fall 2016)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 9, 2016 (edited January 4, 2019)I almost cannot wait to taste this. I've waited so long, and maybe that's why I can't bring myself to open it. -
Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr. Cured Oak Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 8, 2016 (edited April 24, 2018)Tasted it when I first bought it. At that time I didn't know it was going to be such a big deal. Looking back, I wished I'd never opened it. I could have traded for something better. I'm not impressed. Glad I only paid retail. -
Parker's Heritage Bottled-in-Bond Bourbon 24 Year
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 8, 2016 (edited November 13, 2017)**UPDATE: Allowing my opened bottle to sit with a little extra oxygen has helped to make this an enjoyable pour. I still regret spending so much (retail) per bottle but it is still a special bottle to have in my collection. When you pour, let it breathe before you drink. [Tasting from my 1990, so far this has been a disappointment for my palate. I'm saving an unopened 1990 & 1991 to hopefully trade later down the road because of the rarity. Personally, 24 years is too much time for bourbon. My sweet spot is typically anywhere in the 12-15 year range. Sometimes I even prefer a 7 year when they are high rye.] -
Old Forester Birthday Bourbon 2015
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 1, 2016 (edited April 24, 2018)This is one of those I wished I never traded for. My first taste had many unusual flavors and I was enamored by it. When I did get my own bottle, it was an immediate disappointment. I have yet to have the experience that replicates my first taste from the 2015 bottling. -
George T. Stagg Bourbon (Fall 2013)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 9, 2016 (edited November 10, 2017)This stuff is amazing. Flavors so rich and full of oak, smoke & brown sugar. || Poured myself an ounce & a half for my birthday last night. I wish I could stock up on this bottle. Best thing in my bourbon collection. Pappy Who?
