Note- very pleasant maple syrup Body- dry with a bit of pepper and light cloves Finish- hot to sweet with a bit of that briny note I get in rye Note- I like this a lot better the second time. Warms my head and not my chest. Easy to drink slowly. I don’t recommend drinking quickly.50.0 USD per Bottle

Nose- Honey, lemon, and a hint of wood Body- the honey and lemon continue into the taste of grass and earth Finish- the lemon takes over in the finish which is fairly long with a peppery spice Notes- I’m not really end to blends and do not care for Dewars White Label. This was a thoughtfully random gift from a coworker and I will never look a gift horse in the mouth. I’m glad that I didn’t. This scotch isn’t bad. It starts off a bit too sweet for me and is a little stringent for my taste. However, it has depth and is an easy drinker.

Highland Park Dark Origins
Single Malt — Orkney, Scotland
Reviewed May 13, 2016 (edited August 30, 2017)Appearance- the color of Dark Origins is very deserving of its name, it is visibly darker than others from this distillery Nose- sweet floral smoke of pipe tobacco mingled with spiked fruit punch Body- the fruit fragrance fades here while the floral sweetness comes through mingling with woody vanilla and light peat Finish- a very warm finish with spiciness of red pepper comes through in the finish giving way to a return in pipe smoke that lingers lightly Note- I was pleasantly surprised by the easy transition this dram provides from un peated sherried scotches to a peated scotch. I purchased this for Dad for Father's Day but liked it so much that it will now play a permanent role in my own collection. I will continue on my journey with this distillery and look forward to the next discovery. 18 year? -
Appearance- beautiful amber of red and orange hues with very long legs down the glass Nose- strong fragrance of overripe berries, vanilla, cloves and pepper Body- smooth flavors of berry and vanilla continue with orange marmalade Finish- Long finish of strong oak vanilla pinctuated by light smoke. Note- This is truly an excellent sherried dram. What it lacks in complexity it makes up for with mellowness and single noted flavor of berries. Note- This was given to me by Sherri on my 30th birthday, a beautiful dram from a beautiful wife.

George Dickel Barrel Select
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed July 12, 2015 (edited August 28, 2015)Nose- maple, brown sugar and sweet wood Body- maple syrup covered pancakes, woody vanilla and cinammon Finish- this sweetness gives way to spicy notes of pepper and mint Note- this is by far the best Tennessee whiskey I have had, very smooth with well balanced spice and sweetness. -
Aberlour 16 Year Double Cask Matured
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed July 12, 2015 (edited April 24, 2018)Nose- strong scent of raisins and light warm vanilla Body- fruit really comes through here but this finds balance with oak which impart sweet vanilla but also bitter pepper Finish- long finish of lemon and orange zest, pepper and ocean brine Note- a well balanced dram but with a bitter woodiness that I don't care for -
Balvenie Peated Cask 17 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed July 8, 2015 (edited February 10, 2016)Nose- characteristic honey but with noticeable peat, hot to the nose Body- well balanced peat and honey with spicy peppercorns and lemon zest Finish- gives way to sweet honey and nutmeg with a hint of sulphur stemming from the peat Note- this is one of the more complex Balvenies that I have tasted. I liked this quite a bit and found it to be well balanced. -
Nose- very light with more vanilla than the typical honey Body- vanilla, cloves, and nutmeg gives way to mint with a mild bitterness Finish- sweet lemon grass gives way to a mild mint basil reminding slightly of Thai food Note- this is a nice dram but falls a bit flat for me. It lacks vibrancy despite some of the subtle spices. I prefer the Doublewood selection.
