Single Malt — Scotland
Reviewed February 25, 2023 (edited July 13, 2023)(Good Spirits Co. Glasgow – Virtual Whisky Tasting, 04 February 2023). Nose: Nail polish, red berries, caramel Palate: Caramel, sweet, dried fruit - raisins & dates, vanilla, cinnamon, allspice Finish: Long finish. Christmas notes. Sherry, vanilla, caramel. Green, menthol and white pepper on the aftertaste. 500 litre Oloroso sherry butt. This is a total sherry bomb. Chewy, full-bodied, fruity and unctuous. An excellent whisky. Came first out of the six drams, with 55% of the final vote for favourite of the night. 100% of those present said they enjoyed the whisky. There were two stand out drams that dominated the voting, so some of the whiskies may have unfairly suffered as a result.82.0 GBP per BottleThe Good Spirits Co. -
(Good Spirits Co. Glasgow – Virtual Whisky Tasting, 04 February 2023). Nose: Candied fruit, floral, citrus, window putty Palate: Sweet honey, full bodied, rich, caramel, berries, berry pudding, malt loaf Finish: Long finish. Sweet tobacco, black pepper. There's a brandy note on the finish. Loads of dark dried fruits - figs and dates. Unpeated spirit Concerto malt (mostly from Fife) 24 ex-bourbon casks, finished in Madeira casks Unctuous, sweet and full-bodied. Caramel, fruity and malty. This has a bit of a burn to it, but the fullness, layers of sweetness and creamy mouthfeel makes is a hell of an enjoyable burn! A wee cracker! Came close second out of the six drams, with 45% of the final vote for favourite of the night. 100% of those present said they enjoyed the whisky. There were two stand out drams that dominated the voting, so some of the whiskies may have unfairly suffered as a result. I liked this enough to buy a bottle during the tasting.67.5 GBP per BottleThe Good Spirits Co.

(Good Spirits Co. Glasgow – Virtual Whisky Tasting, 04 February 2023). Nose: Menthol, mint, forest floor, melon, orchard fruit/apples. Damp & musty Palate: Fruity - sour berries, pears, stewed apple, sweet, light peat smoke, black pepper Finish: Long finish. Musty, ashy, muddy. Loads of ash and char. Pepper, leather and tobacco Distilled: 08 March 2006 Bottled: November 2022 This is not as peated as I'd expect from Croftengea. There's a fruity sweetness throughout, but the peatiness is mostly absent apart from little wisps here and there, and a musty dry ashiness on the finish. Came joint last out of the six drams, with 0% of the final vote for favourite of the night. 91% of those present said they enjoyed the whisky. There were two stand out drams that dominated the voting, so some of the whiskies may have unfairly suffered as a result.95.0 GBP per BottleThe Good Spirits Co.

GlenAllachie 2012 Vintage Cuvée Wine Cask Finish
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed February 25, 2023 (edited January 24, 2024)(Good Spirits Co. Glasgow – Virtual Whisky Tasting, 04 February 2023). Nose: Floral, nutty, hairspray, stone fruits Palate: Sweet, spicy, fruit (redcurrants & cranberries), wood shavings, orange zest, creamy mouthfeel Finish: Long finish. Nutty, blackberries, liquorice, coffee, dark chocolate. Dries on the aftertaste. This is a departure from the typically sherried spirit we expect from GlenAllachie, less sherried and veering towards brandy notes. A pretty decent, if ultimately dry dram Came joint last out of the six drams, with 0% of the final vote for favourite of the night. 64% of those present said they enjoyed the whisky. There were two stand out drams that dominated the voting, so some of the whiskies may have unfairly suffered as a result.55.0 GBP per BottleThe Good Spirits Co. -
Annandale 2015 7 Year Old CS21 (North Star Spirits)
Single Malt — Scotland
Reviewed February 25, 2023(Good Spirits Co. Glasgow – Virtual Whisky Tasting, 04 February 2023). Nose: Hairspray, furniture polish, slightly burnt plastic, dried fruit (plum and dates) Palate: Spicy / crystalised ginger, black pepper, malty, dark dried fruits and sour dried cherries Finish: Long finish. Sweet molasses, burnt caramel. The dried fruit notes brighten on the finish, becoming more sherried on the aftertaste. 1 of 458 bottles Oloroso sherry butt The nose on this is not great, burnt and artificial, but it comes into its own on the palate and even more so on the finish where it becomes far more sherried and bright. Not bad at all. Came joint last out of the six drams, with 0% of the final vote for favourite of the night. 36% of those present said they enjoyed the whisky. There were two stand out drams that dominated the voting, so some of the whiskies may have unfairly suffered as a result.85.0 GBP per BottleThe Good Spirits Co. -
(Good Spirits Co. Glasgow – Virtual Whisky Tasting, 04 February 2023). Nose: Pastry, orchard fruit, berries, very light damp peat smoke, mild baking spices (cinnamon and nutmeg) Palate: Bright and spirit forward, orchard fruit (pears and berries), cereal. There is an Islay character to the light smoke. Finish: Medium long finish. More fruit on the finish which develops into a far more peated note on the finish. Dry smoke and wood ash on the aftertaste. Finished in Laphroaig casks. This is obviously a young bright spirit with not a lot of cask influence, but what cask influence there is, really works here. The Islay cask influence layers in some wisps of peat smoke that builds and develops into a more complex dram on the palate as it matures, and comes into the fore on the finish and aftertaste. Nice. Came joint last out of the six drams, with 0% of the final vote for favourite of the night. 45% of those present said they enjoyed the whisky. There were two stand out drams that dominated the voting, so some of the whiskies may have unfairly suffered in the voting as a result.50.0 GBP per BottleThe Good Spirits Co.

Reviewed February 25, 2023Nose: Vanilla, citrus, wood/oak, fruity, golden syrup Palate: Honey, oak, cereal, citrus/lemon, Demerara sugar, nutty Finish: Medium short finish. Toasted oak, berries, very sweet finish. 1 of 898 bottles Distilled: 2013 Bottled: 2021 Sweet, fruity and woody. Very drinkable, but very sweet and sugary. It's obviously Glen Moray, but has a deeper, more layered character. The virgin oak shines through with its fruit, honey and vanilla sweetness. A pretty decent wee dram.52.95 GBP per Bottle
