Tastes

It definitely has some typical rye notes but they are much more muted than a typical American rye. Would work great in a manhattan. Tough to argue with for the price.

The ethenol is present but add some ice and it mellows out a little bit. Hints of maple and vanilla frosting linger. I found it best with a cube of ice.

The nose is sweet, with blueberries and cream. The taste continues with blueberry pancakes. I absolutely love it.

The nose smells pretty good. Honey, granola, and baking spices. Smells sweet. But for me the taste is a letdown. It's still a bit sweet but it's also earthy like dirt. Notes of corn and the first time I had it, caraway seed. Did not enjoy this neat, especially in a tasting next to Maker's and Weller SR. It was however a very good mixer for bourbon cocktails, I would consider another bottle just for that.

I really like this rye. Baking spices and brown sugar all day. Works great in cocktails as well.
