Buzzard's Roost Toasted Barrel Straight Rye
Rye — Indiana (finished in Kentucky), USA
Reviewed January 27, 2023It's youth shows, but only a little. The cinnamon toast grain is heavy in the nose and soft on the pallete combined with rich vanilla and light oak. Turns to a light cinnamon red hot in the finish. -
Dominant herbal, floral quality in the nose, but more flavor is found upon tasting. You get those notes with the addition of caramel apple with a light honey sweetness flowing into the finish. The oak takes a back seat revealing itself as a light dryness. Better than than the normal black label IMO.

George Dickel x Leopold Bros Collaboration Blend (2021 Release)
Rye — USA
Reviewed October 10, 2022 (edited January 24, 2023)Just did a 4 way RYE blind with Sagamore 8, Pikesville, E.H. Taylor and this bottle. It didnt win like I expected it to (came in third) but still damn good! Oily and mouth coating with a long finish. Nothing normal for a rye nose IMO: spiced apple and chamomile. The flavor was herbal & floral, a real bouquet, also light rye spice and earthiness. An experience for sure, but I like a touch more fruit and sweet notes. -
Sagamore Spirit 4 Year Bottled In Bond Rye (2021 Release)
Rye — Maryland , USA
Reviewed July 17, 2022Nose: light rye spice, fruit, vanilla and brightness Palette: lingering spikes throughout, some baking spice, OAK presence and a short finish. Hopefully their own distillate becomes better with age or they distill and blend better batches. -
Herbal yet sweet nose, light fruitiness. Screams Penna Rye. Soft sweetness, herbaceous and I get some California raisin vinous flavor. Long dark fruit and rye finish. Better than Overholt for sure, a wonderful reclaiming of the PA brand. For a minimum of 2 years and 80 proof, this is great.25.0 USD per Bottle

Neat, i thought it was a very basic rye; a little underwhelming. I just attributed this as "neck pour". Sampled again later with 2 drops of water and it came to life. Cinnamon, sweet spices with a little citrus dominate the nose and it comes through on the palate. Not New Riff Malted good, but this just replaced the disappointing 4yr Willet though as my favorite go-to rye.
