Longrow Red 11 Year Cabernet Sauvignon Finish
Single Malt — Campbeltown, Scotland
Reviewed April 23, 2018 -
nose: malt, vanilla, some smoke, fairly creamy, surprisingly salty. medium ethanol presence. simple but interesting. palate: light and smooth. Gentle fruit and wood at first (peach). Spicier than expected, and is the only one singing in the midpalate. Finish: pale woody note at first with the spice coming back for an encore. a touch of peat and smoke lasts till it fades. I enjoyed the nose the most. after reading other reviews, I look forward to tasting the age stated ones, but their prices are just absurd...

Rittenhouse Rye Bottled in Bond
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 29, 2018 (edited August 19, 2018)Nice Rye! N: rye, of course, peanut brittle covered in maple syrup, slight hint of burnt sugar P: oily and medium full body. sweet honey and oak to start it off, then moves on to fruit sweetness, burnt sugar, and some dried orange peel. Very chewy. F: short finish. Starts with a burst of marshmallow when swallowing, then sweetness and toasted oak appears and quickly disappears. In any sense, a nice rye to have, whether for beginner or rye lovers. -
