Maison La Mauny Rhum Agricole Martinique
Rhum Agricole Blanc — Martinique
Reviewed September 7, 2023 (edited November 3, 2023)Sipping 3.25, ti punch with minimal sugar and lime (but with ice) 4.75, one of the best ti punches i can make, other mixing 4.25. Fruitier and less earthy than the labat 59, strong cane juice flavor, very "green". -
Père Labat 59
Rhum Agricole Blanc — Marie-Galante, Guadeloupe
Reviewed September 7, 2023 (edited October 17, 2023)Very earthy, good for ti punch or daiquiri, but I'm missing some of the raw cane juice flavors that other rhums have. Sipping (with some water): 3. Mixing: 4. Since mixing is more important for this kind of rhum, overall 3.75 it is. -
Nose o.k. but the taste! So sweet! Didn't see that comming. Sweetest rum/whisky/cognac whatever I've ever tasted. And all about the oak/cask, forget the distilate. Distillery character? Never heard of. Maybe not for me. Or maybe keep it for wintertime, when its freezing outside and then some of this. And why on earth is it colored? Almost offensive. At first I gave it only 2.5, but after comparison with some other rums/bourbons changed it to 3. If you like sweet liquid oak its not bad at all, but if you like cane juice spirit there is no point.

Renegade Rum Études - Single Farm Origin: New Bacolet
Other Sugarcane — Grenada
Reviewed August 31, 2023 (edited October 22, 2023)Pot still, both oak and sugar cane forward, like drinking whisky with a (strong) rum flavor. Exelent sipping rum, not so much for mixing, daiquiri or ti punch doesn't work with this kind of rum (for me). -
Savanna Le Must
Aged Rum — La Reunion, Réunion Island

Douglas Laing's Provenance Fettercairn 8 years
Single Malt — Highland, Scotland
Reviewed August 4, 2023Just finished the bottle. What started out as one of my least favorites became, after 2 years open botle, one of my favorites. What oxidation can do! We just drink our whiskies too young. Let them oxidise! In the cask!
