Balcones Lineage Texas Single Malt
American Single Malt — Texas, USA
Reviewed December 30, 2025 (edited December 31, 2025)Quite complex and layered for the price point. On the nose I get some some smoky caramel, layered on top of a sweet cherry-licorice syrup, followed by a hint of spice—maybe black pepper, maybe anise… I couldn’t quite pin it. Upon first taste, you’re met with the smokiness and some heat, but it quickly passes through to brown sugar and apple, still finishing with that touch of spice. As it opens up, the flavors only grow richer—the brown sugar and licorice move forward while the heat and spice remain. Each sip you will catch something different. Such a fun one!38.0 USD per Bottle -
This is a unique-tasting bourbon. For that reason I THINK I like it overall. Lower proof for the Balcones line, which is nice for some. Sweet corn and some barrel/woody notes. Comparing this one with other classic bourbons (Makers, Knob Creek, Buffalo Trace, Evan Williams, Woodford) really brings out the differences. I’d imagine this would be killer in an Old Fashioned.

The Burning Chair Single Barrel Select
Bourbon — Indiana, USA
Reviewed March 1, 2021 (edited October 20, 2021)Pretty outstanding bourbon here. Really nice oak and vanilla sweetness, with the tart grape from the wine barrel finishing. Really enjoyed this one. -
Wild Turkey 101 Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 24, 2020 (edited December 26, 2020)Lots to discover here. On the first nose is vanilla, brown sugar, and some apple. Initial taste is pretty hot with a good spice to balance the sugars you expect from the nose. Opening up a few minutes reveals some banana and a faint minty eucalyptus on the nose, and some pepper on the taste. A couple drops of water mutes the spices a bit, leaving brown sugar and vanilla in the forefront. The notes really seem to develop as you sip through a couple ounces. Overall a great value for the price, and a good one to keep on your shelf. -
Bib & Tucker 6 Year The Classic Six Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Tennessee , USA
Reviewed April 25, 2020Unique bourbon. A bit herbal and floral notes on the nose with a balanced sweetness of vanilla and fruit. Lighter bodied with a refreshing finish. A bit expensive, but worth it once in awhile.60.0 USD per Bottle -
Tasty blended scotch. Great sipper. Real easy to drink. Best taken neat. Letting it open up in a glass for 5-10 minutes prior to drinking reveals a warmer tone to compliment the prominent fruity and vanilla notes. VERY good bang for your buck. Bonus tip: try pairing it with a cigar!36.0 USD per Bottle
