Benromach 10 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed November 28, 2019 (edited October 10, 2020)Had at bluefin bay 2019 thanksgiving dinner. It nosed sweet and malty. Initial taste was a little peppery and alcohol forward. But with one ice cube it was very fruity, malty, sweet with vanilla and toffe and a small amount of smoke. Body and finish are medium and really delicious. Maybe not as much stewed fruit as the 15 but really tasty -
Wild Turkey Rare Breed Barrel Proof Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 30, 2019 (edited November 1, 2019)Nose: soft, vanilla, caramel, wet oak, brown sugar, baking spices, rye spice later as opens up. reminds me of RR 10 to start but opens and has more layers with time. Very inviting nose. Later dark cherry Body: medium Palate: baking spice, hint of rye, mild cinnamon spiciness, the nuggets more vanilla but actually has more rye notes are present for me at first taste Finish: medium to long and warming. A nice Kentucky hug. Note: A lot of flavor to start. Reminds me of a more flavorful 4R small batch with less rye. -
Benriach peated cask strength batch 2
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed October 23, 2019 (edited January 23, 2021)Representing speyside Lossie river Nose: oaky, malty, peat smoke, old fermented fruit, Body: medium Palate: peppery, spicy, smoky, salty, with water it’s sweat to start but very spicy Finish: medium long and hot Note: good but my least favorite. Water tames the spice and allows sweet to come through. -
