van winkle special reserve lot b 12 year 2022 edition
Bourbon — USA
Reviewed March 13, 2023 (edited May 29, 2023)Nose: carmel and oak and doughy pie crust (yum). Green apple dipped in brown sugar. Lots of gooey thick caramel. After two sips a little faint rye wafted out of the glencairn. Body: medium to full, fairly robust Palate: smokey caramel, barrel spice. Some sweetness with the spice but this is not a wilting daisy this really brings a little punchiness to the palate. Robust flavor for the abv, seens to be punching above its weight. Not a complicated dram and a really good bourbon that says “hey, im a good bourbon you will repesct me” this is good. Finish: long and smokey. So delicious. Note: another taste from don. I like the 2021 version so lets see how this goes. I like this more than wizard pappy. This is really good. -
Nose: caramel and strawberry, almost like a freshly popped can of the powdered strawberry nestles quick. Little bit of pie crust but mainly fruity red berries and caramel. Its nice and inviting. Near the end of the ounce the nose continued with the berry and sweetness, i envisioned like if you popped a few smarties in your mouth but on the nose. Its nice. Body: thin to medium Palate: initially a little peppery, cinnamon, caramel, a faint woodiness almost like the smell of fresh loose leaf paper but if you put a corner of that paper on your tongue. Its faint but the woddiness is there. Finish: first sip of the day so maybe a little biased but this was unexpectedly long given how easy this was to sip. Long primarily with caramel and red berry but also a little puff of tobacco leaf. Not bad. Note: a taste from don. Not my first go round with wizard pappy but its been a while since i last enjoyed. Another dram i wished i had a few more ounces to really dig into but this was light and sugary sweet. Fun and easy going.

Nose: caramel bomb. Faint cherry and oak. Faint nuttiness. Little rye and pencil shavings. Body: full, enveloping, thats the abv. Palate: cinnamon spice and caramel. Peppery. Finish: medium, long with a kentucky hug. Note: bought from lucky seven directly. This is a strong, robust, caramel and peppery dram. I like it but dont love it.

Nose: caramel, a light rye, a mintiness, pie crust Body: medium Palate: caramel, vanilla, light rye Finish: medium to long, caramel and a puff of smoke. Very nice. Note: ive always thought this is arguably the best value bourbon out there. Nosed, tasted, made notes then ate a cholocate chip caramel coolie and kept tasting. Nose and finish are great palate is good. Great great value.

Remus 15 Year Gatsby Reserve (2022 Edition)
Bourbon — Indiana , USA
Reviewed March 10, 2023 (edited November 22, 2023)Nose: pencil shavings and peanut butter. Caramel. Later a little cinnamon spice. After the first sip a little mintiness emerged on the nose. Later was cherry pie crust. Body: medium to full Palate: sweet and spicy, hints of caramel. Finish: long, a little dry, smoky (yum) Notes: Post lulus first wolves game, an L but fun nontheless. I like this. Its missing a certain dark fruitiness i really like in these aged bourbons but this is good. -
Russel's reserve private barrel selection 1010 washington ryans pick
Bourbon — USA
Reviewed March 8, 2023Nose: caramel, vanilla, cherry, faint oak. Its vibrant. Very faint woodiness like pencil shavings. Body: medium Palate: minty is my first impression, caramel and that mintiness on my second sip. This is drank neat. Finish: with a medium short finish with caramel Note: a pick from Don but ryan helped in this one. This is a pretty standard bourbon whiskey. Good, not great, everyday sipper kind of whiskey. Im curious to taste this next to the single rickhouse to compare. This is better than the MWS RR pick i tasted at the whiskey tasting weekend. -

Jack Daniel's Twice Barreled American Single Malt (2022 Release)
American Single Malt — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed February 3, 2023Nose: unique. Rye, mint, hints of old fruit like an over ripe plum Body: light to medium Palate: follows the nose. Rye bread, a little sugary sweetness, a little of the old fruit sneaking through Finish: short to medium Note: another pick from don. This is not my favorite. Really just tastes like a straight forward rye, maybe a little mint to it. Meh.
