woodinville single barrel straight bourbon whiskey (barrel 8511 1010 washington pick)
Bourbon — washington, USA
Reviewed May 29, 2023Nose: its a softer nose than 3,2,1. Caramel. More vanilla than the other three. Not distinctively better than 2,1 and i still think my favorite nose was #3. Has a very faint woodinville bready aroma but less so than the first two samples. Body: light. No kentucky hug. Palate: first impression is sweet and light. Light caramel and oak. Finish: short. Note: sample 4. Prior to this i think im 2,3,1 in order of preference. For fure the lightest of the four sample. Its nice a summery style bourbon but not really my style. -
woodinville single barrel straight bourbon whiskey (barrel 9135 1010 washington sample)
Bourbon — washington, USA
Reviewed May 28, 2023Nose: first wiff thought was more woody than samples 1&2. The caramel on the nose is a little richer too. Less of the distinctive woodinville breadiness. A little of the doughiness. Body: light - medium, a fairly nice kentucky hug. Palate: woodsy, caramel Finish: medium long. Note: sample 3. First thought: nose 3 i like more than nose 1&2. The nose is the best if the three but the palate is maybe second. I think this is second the #2 overall but has the better nose. -
woodinville single barrel straight bourbon whiskey (barrel #8517 1010 washington sample)
Bourbon — washington, USA
Reviewed May 28, 2023Nose: similar nose to #1. I get caramel sweetnest, rye, rye spice and the woodinville nose. Body: medium - full. I like the body of two more than 1, more robust. Palate: caramel, rye breadiness and vanilla sweetness Finish: light to medium and sweet Note: sample #2, i really liked sample one, how will this compare? This is similar but more robust and sweet. At the same time it has fewer rough edges. -
Nose: caramel, vanilla, bready vanilla pudding. Some kind of yeast, like a bread yeast aroma. Later a pungent woody mossy aroma, earthy maybe a better term. Little rye and cinnamon. It actually kind of complex Body: medium Palate: earthy woody sweetness Finish: medium to long. It just kind of slowly rolls on. Like a low roll of thunder. A little kentucky hug. Note: sample from don from the barrel pick i couldnt make… damn coronavirus! Anyway still got to sample. 1010 is the best. I really like this. Its just so different than other bourbons. The earthy flavor is a nice step off the beaten path.

Doc Swinsons exploratory cask 16 year old finished in madeira casks
Bourbon — distilled in tennessee. finished, blended & bottled in ferndale washington, USA
Reviewed March 19, 2023Nose: chocolate, maraschino cherry, caramel. Noses like a box of chocolate covered maraschino cherries. A little butterscotch. Body: light to medium Palate: loads of chocolate, light caramel, barrel spice. Finish: light to medium with faint chocolate and barrel smoke Note: bottle 97 of 273, so thats fun. A little risky paying the big bucks for an unknown quantity but this has the possibility to be very good… don gave me the opportunity to buy so i jumped. Lets see just how far the rabbit hole goes….. nose is chocolate sweetness. Initial thought is light but flavorful with a light kentucky hug some barrel spice and smoke which is nice. This drinks pretty soft maybe about right for the abv. The finish initially was a little more robust though. I like it. Its different i dont think i have anything like it open right now. -
