Murray Hill Club Blended Bourbon
Bourbon — (blended & bottled in Washington D.C.), USA
Reviewed October 20, 2022Batch 48 bottle 73 Nose: herbaceous with light caramel and vanilla. After the first sip more woodiness emerged on the nose. Later noses bring out oak and honey. Body: light to medium more on the light side Palate: first sip was subdued. It’s a very light and ephemeral dram. Light vanilla, light caramel, a little peppery spiciness. A little long lasting Kentucky hug. If you let the whiskey linger on the tongue and pull some air across it more oakiness emerges. Finish: medium Note: bought from 1010, open and tried during MEA weekend in Plymouth wisconsin on vacation. This is ok to good. It’s not earth shattering but it’s a nice bourbon whiskey with a basic bourbon backbone but not a lot of punch. -
George Dickel 15 Year Tennessee Single Barrel
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed October 18, 2022 (edited November 7, 2022)Nose: caramel, orange starburst, vanilla and barrel smoke, delicious nose. Later a little woodiness like sawdust. Body: light and thin Palate: flavors exploded on the palate with sweetness, green apple, caramel, smoky chocolate Finish: long and smokey, caramel and orange starburst. The length of finish is surprising given the body. Note: this is a really tasty whiskey. A little confusing in that it’s light and thin but full of flavor. I would say no Kentucky or in this case Tennessee hug. Very easy to drink and has nice flavor. The palate follows the nose. The finish is long and smokey how I like it. -
Nose: caramel, oak barrel, malt. After a Qtr of an ounce it’s mostly oak on the nose. Body: medium Palate: sweet oak, cinnamon, little back palate vanilla. Finish: nice, medium length Note: this is going to be tough. I’ve got about half an ounce to taste from don after his pick tasting. Let’s see how it goes. What I could suck out of that 1/2 ounce was good

Bomberger's Declaration (2022 Release)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 14, 2022 (edited December 12, 2022)Nose: cherry, oak, caramel, little mint, just a hint of barrel smoke, sweetness carries the day on the nose. Body: medium to full Palate: oooh that first sip neat is good. Packs a lot of flavor in that 108 proof. Caramel, salted caramel, oak the sweetness on the nose is muted on the palate by for me came through more on the back palate before giving way to the smoke In the finish. The mint on the nose is no where to be found on the palate. It’s a little dry which is more an observation than a critique, just leaves your mouth watering. But over all this is an big oaky caramelly sweet nosing whiskey Finish: is long and smokey oak. My favorite kind of finish. Note: this is really good. Lots of big bold flavor. This is just a real good bourbon. Lots of flavor, leaves nothing to the imagination nice flavor profile, nice long smokey finish. Super good -
Willett Family Estate Single Barrel Rye 7 Year
Rye — USA
Reviewed August 31, 2022 (edited December 3, 2022)Nose: rye and soft barrel spice. Vanilla and faint milk chocolate. This is not an overpowering etoh forward nose. Sweetness, honeyed. Malt. Little leather. Woody and earthy later. Body: medium Palate: interesting, unique, complex and seemingly a lot going on on the first sip. Rye, chocolate, bready maltiness, cinnamon, water chestnut (?) or light nuttiness. Black licorice really started to dominate late in the dram. Finish: medium Note: a great pick up from 1010. Very hard to get any willet rye other than the 4 year. This barrel was picked by Rachel 😮 so I hope it’s good. This is barrel 2237, 58.3%, 7 yr. Yup this is good and interesting. Overall this was extremely easy to drink and has layers of flavor.
