Nose: rich, meaty peat, and iodine along with sweeter notes of dried dark fruit. Also some subtler notes of orange and black pepper and strawberry Palate: all the flavors are so well interwoven that it is hard to pick out specific notes. Intensely sweet with hints of salted meat. Oak and black pepper spice throughout. Finish: long and oily with a lingering oak and a strong sweetness that I can't put my finger on. I commend lagavulin for being able to balance all those intense flavors so perfectly. Much sweeter than I expected but was well contrasted by the smoke and savory notes. One of the best malts I've tried so far.

Cragganmore 12 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed August 21, 2020 (edited August 22, 2020)Nose:citrus, floral, malt, slight smoke Palate: starts sweet malt, honey, peppery spice on the backend. Not much smoke if any. Finish: medium with nice warming spice Overall light and sippable. Just the right amount of spice and honey to balance each other out. The peat is so interwoven that I almost could not pick it out. I don't usually go for Speysides but I could see myself reaching for this when I want something lighter. -

Nose: cardamom, anise, cinnamon, honey Palate: sweet honey up front, rye spice, slightly medicinal. Finish: medium with notes of menthol and wood spice What I expected a 100% rye to taste like. Smells and tastes like a spice cabinet. Not what i would call a "smooth sipper" but a interesting and enjoyable pour nonetheless.
