I ordered the Slow Hand Organic Six Woods Malt Whiskey from an on line retailer and received this Slow Hand Six Woods Cask Whiskey instead. Wont complain since I got a 115 proof, $60 bottle for $45. The bottle says “Aged more than 10 minutes...” Haha! Not likely those 10 minutes gave it that nice mahogany color. It’s got some decent, thin but slowly moving legs. Quite sweet yet pleasant on the nose with caramel, maple, smarties candies, vanilla and some baking spices. Dark stone fruits appear late. The palate is not as sweet as the nose, the caramel, maple and vanilla translate directly from the nose. It’s not quite creamy. There’s some nutty grape type notes hiding in the background. The ABV really never makes itself known. The finish is short/medium length with the sweetness fighting and prevailing over a little bitterness and astringency. Overall, a nice change of pace, desert type whiskey.

Glen Scotia 14 Year Tawny Port Finish (2020 Campbeltown Malts Festival)
Single Malt — Campbeltown, Scotland
Reviewed November 21, 2020 (edited November 25, 2020)Nose: Violets, honey, red berries, vanilla, light peat with a hint of beach bon fire smoke and an ocean breeze. Palate: Initially sweet, sharp fruity notes and heat, as more sips pass, more of the honey, berry and peat notes shine through plus some nuttiness. Finish: Long and smokey with nut, honey and berry notes 3-14-23 bottle kill. Initial notes hold up. I liked it better as i neared the end of the bottle. Bumped score up 1/4 point. Wish i had another bottle. -

Warbringer Mesquite Smoked Southwest Bourbon
Bourbon — (bottled in) California , USA
Reviewed November 8, 2020 (edited March 10, 2024)Three months of oxidation in the bottle has not been kind to this whiskey. It’s now dominated by a pungent imitation wood smoke note on the nose and palate. Would not buy again. -
Plantation Xaymaca Special Dry
Gold Rum — Jamaica
Reviewed November 4, 2020 (edited November 12, 2020)If you need the funk, if you gotta have that funk, this is the rum for you. Massive hogo funk on the nose, which is tamed slightly by time in the glass, but still hefty. There’s molasses, caramel and ripe bananas too. Rich on the palate with caramelized brown sugar, honey and muted tropical fruits. Short finish is woody with a slight bitterness. -
