Bear Moon American Whiskey
Other Whiskey — California, USA
Reviewed July 4, 2020 (edited October 20, 2020)This whiskey is a bit of a mystery. Bear Moon Spirits website does not even list a whiskey. Found a bottle at a discount grocery store for $14.99 What do you get for that price? A surprisingly decent whiskey. It's light bodied with a little sweet corn and malt, slight astringency and a slightly spicy finish. -
Glendronach Cask Bottling 2008 K&L
Single Malt — Highland, Scotland
Reviewed July 2, 2020 (edited July 24, 2020)Initial impressions of a neck pour with a teaspoon of water. The whiskey feels substantial with fat oloroso notes, great creamy palate and superb long spicy finish. Will be interesting to see how this bottle develops over time. -
Westward American Single Malt
American Single Malt — Oregon, USA
Reviewed June 23, 2020 (edited July 23, 2020)It's got a yeasty, funky, stinky note at first on the nose, which dissipates over time, but never really goes away. It reduces enough to reveal berries and citrus. It's light on the palate with sweet fruit, malt and a hint of the funky yeast. Shortish, spicy finish. -

Suttcliffe & Son The Exceptional Malt
Blended Malt — Scotland
Reviewed June 13, 2020 (edited June 15, 2020)Bottle kill review. This just got better and better over time. Rich, viscous, malty, fruity and nutty with a hint of peat smoke. Mmm, so good. -
Honey, apple crisp, orange peels and a hint of smoke on the nose, the palate is full and rounded with vanilla and some sweet fruits that I can't put my finger on, the finish is longish with a little heat like you get with young whisky, but not unpleasant. Overall this seems a little delicate, well balanced and delicious.

Glenglassaugh Evolution
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed June 7, 2020 (edited January 13, 2021)Bottle kill review. Sweet bananas foster, butterscotch, creme brulee, cherry cola, and milk chocolate on the nose. The palate is creamy, a little young and hot, it's also sweet but not cloying with more butter scotch, bananas foster, vanilla and caramel. The finish is long, sweet and peppery with more butter scotch and some toffee. And, oh yeah, the empty glass is amazing, with all the various notes hanging on plus some added berries.
