Pike Creek Canadian Whisky Finished in Port Wine Barrels
Canadian — Canada
Reviewed October 16, 2020 (edited October 18, 2020)A little brown sugar sweetness with a little astringency on the nose, palate is more brown sugar with caramel, a hint of rye spices and maybe, just maybe a whisper of port, finish is short and sweet. -
Stagg Jr Barrel Proof Bourbon Batch 12
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 11, 2020 (edited December 22, 2020)Thick, rich and intense with brown sugar, cherry, leather and oak notes in great harmony. Whereas No. 13 was super hot with less ABV, No. 12 requires no water. Near perfection in a bottle. -
Kilkerran 12 Year
Single Malt — Campbeltown, Scotland
Reviewed October 10, 2020 (edited January 14, 2021)Neck pour, first impressions: Semi-sweet, oily, full, smoked ham, brine and light peat. Delightful! -
Teeling Small Batch Irish Whiskey
Blended — Ireland
Reviewed October 9, 2020 (edited November 7, 2020)Inauspicious start with a hint of green bananas, cereal and allspice on the nose, a longer time in the glass reveals a nice chocolate note. It makes up ground quickly with a sweet, silky entry on the palate followed by a plethora of notes, chocolate, cherries, vanilla, caramel, toffee, nutmeg and allspice, none overpowering, all enjoyable. The finish is a little spicy and medium length. -
Dailuaine 12 Year Old Malts Cask
Single Malt — Speyside , Scotland
Reviewed September 26, 2020 (edited October 6, 2020)Nose: Toffee, mocha with a hint of hazel nut and mint Palate: Supple and semi-sweet with caramel, red berries and a nutty note. Finish: Medium length and peppery Interesting that my tasting notes corespondent closely to the notes on the bottle. Was I influenced by what was written? IDK, but I find that many times I can’t describe a particular note until after I have read another review and have an aha moment of “oh, that’s what that note is”. Anyhow, a nice whiskey, and the 56.7% abv doesn’t make itself known until later, no water needed. -
Forty Creek Three Grain Harmony
