Vanilla and ethanol with hints of apple on the nose. Palate with some spice with a definite bite, however not hot. Not smooth either. Bitter tannins round out a fairly short finish that I think is somewhat off putting. I find this one of the weaker expressions coming out of the Turkey distillery.33.99 USD per Bottle

1792 Full Proof Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 20, 2020 (edited May 6, 2020)Cherries and banana with vanilla on the nose. Sweet spice blasts the mid-tongue with tons of cinnamon notes. Long, warm finish. 1792 Full Proof is an excellent bourbon at 126 proof and well worth the sub $60 price tag. Get this!59.99 USD per Bottle -
Nose with butterscotch & vanilla as well as some ethanol that permeate from my glencairn glass. The palate is nice with oak and leather flavors that mingle with the classic caramel. More heat than one would expect in a 94 proof whiskey, but smooth enough for a beginner. Medium finish with a warmth that’s felt all the way down. Although it scores a bit lower as it can’t be confused with WLW or even a Booker’s release, this is a really good pour for the price point.30.99 USD per Bottle

Old Forester 1910 Old Fine Whisky
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 19, 2020 (edited April 27, 2020)Nose is completely ripe bananas with a bit of a sour note. Chocolate and coffee flavors come through on the backend of the palate; very reminiscent of Woodford Reserve Double Oaked. The finish is fairly short, however has some decent spice that transitions back to that chocolate and banana aftertaste. This is certainly no 1920, but it’s not all that bad and an easy bourbon to sip and enjoy.54.99 USD per Bottle -
Heaven Hill Bottled In Bond 7 Year
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 19, 2020 (edited April 22, 2020)Peanuts on the nose along with a pleasant sweetness. Nuts continue on the palate. Oily and smooth. Medium finish. Actually tasted this blindly in a flight along with Angel’s Envy and E.H. Taylor and it finished last. Did not enjoy the finish very much at the time. With that said, this is a very solid pour. I still get some of the notes that placed it poorly in the blind tasting, but they don’t strike me as offensive when standing alone.59.99 USD per Bottle -
Incredible nose; vanilla & maple syrup with a definite rum influence. So good! Palate is a bit light, however a wave of cinnamon spice envelops the back of the tongue. Quite smooth. Short, pleasant finish. This is a very nice and unique whiskey. Although not an everyday sipper, I could definitely see this becoming one of my go to bottles for special occasions.85.0 USD per Bottle

Booker's Bourbon Batch 2020-01 "Granny's Batch"
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 9, 2020 (edited August 4, 2020)Previous reviews have been right on the money with the descriptions of earthy, grassy notes wafting from my Norlan glass. Although I appreciate the complexity, it’s not what I enjoy in a nose. With that said, Granny’s Batch redeems itself on the palate and more so on the finish. The earthy notes continue on the palate with caramel and cinnamon flavors taking over on the back end. The finish is incredibly long as you would expect a 126 proof bourbon to be. This is much in line with what other expressions of Booker’s have brought over the last couple of years. I must say that the Booker’s line is my favorite across the board, however this one has to be my least favorite so far.87.99 USD per Bottle -
Pleasant overall on the nose with light floral scents as well as typical fruit and caramel notes; some ethanol. Palate has cinnamon coming through, however it’s really thin and light. The finish is very short with no residual Kentucky hug that I look for in a bourbon. As an everyday sipper, it’s easy and smooth, but there is very little complexity. I honestly don’t see the fuss, but if you can find it at retail pricing, it’s not a bad find.39.99 USD per Bottle

Vanilla, brown sugar and oak come through on the nose, especially opening up after the first sip. Nice tingle on the palate with barrel influences that remind me that it’s a 12-year-old. The oaky flavors continue through to a medium finish that bring a lingering warmth to the gut. Overall, I can definitely appreciate this one, but I’m learning that I prefer less oak, maybe younger bourbons.64.95 USD per Bottle
