Johnnie Walker Green Label 15 Year
Blended Malt — Scotland
Reviewed May 27, 2021 (edited November 20, 2021)My first venture into blended scotch; enamoured by the recommendations and high praise of drinkers. In my limited palette, this is very similar to highland park 12 Viking honour. The biggest difference is how smooth this is all the way through. Nose isn’t very pronounced; pretty mellow and uninteresting. A little smoke and peat is detectable. Palette is the usual sweetness with all the expected flavours. Finish is where the smoke arrives- just the right amount. Lingering finish and in no way unpleasant. Absolutely no burn and goes down easy. Very nice scotch for the price point; you could save $12 and get the HP12 but I think it is worth it for the extra smoothness. Also, you’re getting a 15 year age statement. Not terribly complex, but it’s a great dram when you don’t want to think about it -
Nose is medium intensity; not a lot going on at first Palette is a nice balanced sweetness with all the usual flavours Finish is where the smoke announces it’s arrival; not detectable in the palette. No water needed; no burn either. A nice affordable dram and a little different than the usual . I’m enjoying this dram more than I should

Nose is a little weaker than I’d like. A really nice dram for the money. Needs a bit of water to smooth it out. All the flavours are there. Edit: After finishing the bottle, I realize my previous comments don’t do it justice; I really like this whiskey. Everything I’m looking for is in this spirit. Has a good amount of complexity and cereal note

Balvenie Doublewood 12 Year

Reviewed May 5, 2021 (edited May 8, 2021)A gateway scotch whiskey. Very smooth and sweet. I get a strong nutty flavour. Wish it was a higher ABV
