Glenfiddich 18 Year Our Small Batch Eighteen
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed December 25, 2021 (edited August 17, 2022)Pretty disappointed in this. Watered down and thin. Nothing to boast about. Hard pass -
First time having this. I’m a scotch guy but this came highly recommended. Simply delicious- very spicy but irresistible. Lots of oak on the nose .64% ABV and it’s perfect neat and defies its strength. Amazingly good value up here in Canada. I cannot imagine anyone who likes whiskey, would turn this down

Glen Grant 15 Year Batch Strength 1st Edition
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed November 14, 2021This was recommended yesterday at the BC spirit release. Pretty good value for a 15 year old I thought. The first thing I noticed was the incredibly oily/creamy mouthfeel; and the wonderful nose it has- think apple pie with pears on Christmas morning. It keeps getting better with the palette; amazing sweet flavours coming throughout. It doesn’t seem like a 100 proof whiskey at all; deceptively smooth. Easy drinking. Others have mentioned it to be a bit hot, but I don’t find that at all. This is easily top 3 for me currently and a great value at this price point. Highly recommended. Edit- that was based on the first pour. A few days have passed and it has changed a lot. That burn people talk about is there a bit more. There is a perfect amount of water to add; when you get it right, it’s apple pie delight -
I got this for Father’s Day- I was secretly hoping for it, because it’s an extravagant gift. I’m a huge fan of the 12 already and I’ve heard great things about this one. It’s a very smooth, complex scotch- it has a wonderful oak aroma and palette, that the 12 doesn’t have. Hard to pinpoint- it’s not an oak bomb, but there’s a nice lingering oak character in throughout the experience. Nothing overpowers anything else. Super smooth and easy drinking. No water. Definitely different that the 12. Is it worth double the price over the 12? I don’t think so, Because the 12 is so good. But every now and then, this will be a go to.185.0 CAD per Bottle

Only my second time tasting this whiskey. Very rich and concentrated is what I would call it; lots of flavours including a strong cereal/malt note. Has a cough drop note in the palette. Numbs the tongue if you don’t dilute it with a little bit of water. It’s definitely an excellent dram full of intensity and proof. You can get easily hammered on this stuff so enjoy accordingly. Update: on my third bottle; I’ve had batch 67, 70 and back to 67 which is excellent. Pretty much my favourite scotch whiskey.120.0 CAD per Bottle

Perhaps the cheapest single malt in Canada. Totally under the radar whiskey. Nose is fairly weak and light. Palette is full of sweetness and the usual suspects. Nice cereal note which I love. Finish is long and lingering. Very smooth scotch which is deceptively easy drinking. Definitely getting some smoke but it isn’t really listed as a profile. Hardly any burn at all. A tad water opens it up. Not a terribly complex dram but great value and a can’t lose scotch overall
