Wild Turkey Rare Breed Barrel Proof Rye
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 6, 2021 (edited September 14, 2021)Color: strong copper tones, medium darkness Legs: slow forming but run fast once droplets are formed. Impressive texture for a 112 proof Nose: honey, vanilla with some pecan and hints of spice flood the nostril. The proof doesn't seem to be overwhelming on the nose. First sip: sweet and spicy simultaneously while covering the pallet with a blanket of warmth. Body: it's fairly true to the nose and consistent with nose and sip. No burn going down which is impressive for a higher proof rye bourbon. Finish: smooth to start with some residual heat coming on the back end up through the nose. Overall: this is an excellent pour. Classic wild turkey flavor with some spice from the rye and heat from the proof but still proportionate and balanced. Well done -
Booker's Bourbon Batch 2020-02 "Boston Batch"
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 26, 2020 (edited October 26, 2020)Color: incredible copper color, represents its age statement with a high char look Legs: it's a two wave affair, the first set glide down quickly and the second set have a formation akin to a large beasts about to make a charge down the side of the glass Nose: high vanilla and burnt sugar cross the nostril with a lingering spicy scent of peppery leather First sip: a medium viscosity with an initial impression of sweet, buttery corn and vanilla. Immediately followed by a good amount of spice with a slight burn as the bourbon slides under the tongue. Pallet: great balance for a 120+ proof bourbon. It has the beginning of a simple bourbon and as it spreads throughout the mouth, it develops a slight burn to add some spicy complexity. Finish: it's an easy finish for the proof but does have a lingering spice that makes one want to give it another go around. Really enjoyed this one. Would probably price it closer to 60-70 instead of low 90's. But I like sweeter bourbons.90.0 USD per Bottle -
Kentucky Owl Bourbon (Batch #9)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 31, 2020 (edited March 5, 2021)This is incredibly good. Smooth across the pallet and very smooth finish . The nose is consistent with the first sip all the way through the finish which lingers and dances on the tongue like a guild of cane sugar Carmel fairies. I'm lucky to get a taste of such a rare and delicious bourbon. Thanks BillT -
Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Bourbon Batch B520
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 28, 2020 (edited September 3, 2020)Color: Great copper color, dark brown, something you'd expect from a barrel proof. Legs are quick forming and spaced evenly. Nose: the sweet carmel and vanilla are there like most EC's and some sugarcane. some honey and spice also on the nose, maybe leather and/or pepper spices First Sip: so buttery and yet soft. rolls over the tongue like a soft wave on a smooth beach. all the carmel and sweetness present with a very small amount of spice. much more on the sweet side than spicy. Taste: viscous and thorough, this one has some gittup to it. can feel the barrel proof but it isn't over the top. honey and carmel sauce dominate throughout the pallet Finish: ultra smooth for the proof. not a lot of burn on the way down and the pallet is left with the sweet notes through the nose and sinus. Conclusion: everything you'd expect from a highly rated one of a kind EC BP. i can see why this is so highly rated. Complex and easy to drink. Opened it up with a drop off cool distilled water and it changed to something even more complex. Top 5 on my shelf.65.0 USD per Bottle -
Color: strong light brown, not too dark. Nose:traditional bourbon and corn sweetness, Carmel and some leathery spice First sip: fantastic complexity as it rolls over the tongue, not very sweet, hints of vanilla but some really strong pepper and leather. Consistent with the nose Taste: smooth and buttery with just enough spice and slight burn to let you know that 90+ proof is there. No real floral or significant sweet tones to it Finish: so very easy on the way down, minimal to no burn and the pallet stays consistent after the swallow. Conclusion: a really consistent bourbon from nose to finish, something that could be a great Friday drinker or something special to a friend that's a bulleit fan. Really enjoyed it.

Color: brown copper gold, almost opaque to a degree, love it. Legs: slow forming and heavy droplets Nose: Carmel, leather, some pepper and butter scotch, not a lot of fruit but maybe a tad hit of apricot First sip: smooth over the tongue, more spice than sweet dissecting over the edges of the mouth, finish is not over powering but it let's you know it's there. Taste: much smoother on the tongue the second time around, Carmel, oak and some apple pops just before swallowing. Finish: not long but it is pronounced with some spice on the exhale that gives a slight clearing of the nasal passage. Seems like a reasonable juice to give company and too expensive to make cocktails with.43.99 USD per Bottle

Bardstown Bourbon Co. Fusion Series #2
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 12, 2020 (edited September 16, 2020)Color: great copper/yellow color, I've seen lighter and darker Legs: quick to form, good spacing Nose: sweet corn and Carmel at first with some oily butter undertones. Not getting a ton of floral scents but am picking up a little spice/pepper and some cinnamon First sip: spicy first sip with some burn on the tongue, easy finish down without burn Taste: hello rye! From the nose to pallet and finish there are some complex differences. Sweet on the nose with some noticeable spice but the spice is rather pronounced on the tongue and across the pallet. I'm catching some heat that doesn't last too long after swallowing but it's a bit like that bite of cocktail sauce with heavy horseradish, kind of takes your breath away for a brief moment. I'm curious how this will open up given some air and will also give it a try over a single large cube to see how the ice can open it up too and maybe unlock some additional flavors.59.99 USD per Bottle -
Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Bourbon Batch C919
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed June 8, 2020 (edited July 9, 2020)Color: deep golden brown, almost opaque Legs: These things form at the very brim of the line and unexpectedly slow, but once they group (relatively far apart), they take off like the dickens Nose: for being such a high proof, it's ultra sweet, lots of oak, butterscotch and some chocolate. it's hard to keep the nose in too long as the proof burns with anything deep or long First Sip: it's like drinking carmel syrup, if you let it rolls around the front, it doesn't burn much. as it rolls to the back, a little bit of the oak and floral notes come through Taste: It's incredibly sweet and oaky for a really high proof. It's so smooth though that it's incredibly dangerous. Yes you can tell the proof but it's not overpowering. Finish: slight burn on the first taste or two going down but the residual flavors urge and crave you to do it again. some vanilla still on the tongue with a hint of butterscotch. For the price/value and the proof and the taste, I'm not sure it gets much better than this.59.99 USD per Bottle -
Angel's Envy Bourbon Finished in Port Wine Barrels
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed May 28, 2020 (edited September 16, 2020)Color: a tad on the lighter side, more tan/gold than brown Legs: decent pace of formation, good spacing around the glass Nose: sweet notes from the port finish, light oak, buttercream and a tad of pepper/space First sip: easy on the front of the pallet, spicy towards the back and warm on the way down. Not overly but a very light burn letting you know it's there Taste: smooth, no real strong tastes, pretty even and dare I say bland? Finish: ultra smooth, nothing intense to note, really good bourbon for those that don't like the spice of a rye. Overall: I don't think the value is there for a $50 bottle, it's decent but I think there is more hype than hope with this one. Good marketing and reputation.49.99 USD per Bottle
