Early Times Bottled-in-Bond Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 1, 2017 (edited December 11, 2017)This reminded me a lot of Evan Williams Bottled-in-Bond White Label, which I enjoy. There is a lot of sweet vanilla and caramel on the nose and palate, but the finish is short and just "okay". Worth buying a bottle if it's released in your area. -
Balblair 1990 2nd Release
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed July 1, 2017 (edited March 27, 2018)Mine is the 2015 bottling. Of the sherried scotches I've had, this is the best by far. The flavors are rich and full, and the nose is incredible. Highly recommended. -
Edgefield Hogshead Whiskey
Other Whiskey — Oregon, USA
Reviewed August 21, 2016 (edited July 12, 2017)The nose and palate remind me of a young bourbon but with a lot of strong oak flavor. There's a bit of cherry and more oak on the finish. After drinking Redbreast 12, I realized this one is simiilar on the nose and palate. They are both labelled as "Pot Distilled", which might be part of it. -
La Favorite Rhum Agricole Blanc Coeur de Canne
Rhum Agricole Blanc — Martinique
Reviewed June 19, 2016 (edited April 24, 2018)I really enjoyed this one. It's unusual, with some chemical notes on the nose and palate, but it complements the sweetness and fresh flavors. -
Macallan 12 Year Sherry Oak Cask
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed January 3, 2016 (edited April 24, 2018)Very similar to a dram of the now-discontinued Mortlach 16 Flora & Fauna I tried the day before. Both have a big sherry nose, though the Mortlach seems to have a longer, richer finish.
