Nose is dried cherries & dates; can even feel the burn of the alcohol here. Color is mild caramel w/ a rosy tint. Mouth feel is thick; nice viscosity. Up front is dried dark fruits drizzled w/ honey and the slightest touch of toasted oak. Middle is crème brûlée. Finish is a mildly lasting sweet warmth. A 3.5 if I could give 1/2 stars.

Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Rye
Rye — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed November 2, 2016 (edited April 24, 2018)Nose: smokey oak, and a mix of vanilla and spice. Palette: the sweetness of the sugar maple charcoal and the spiciness of the rye are quite apparent and really blend together well like gingerbread at Christmas; earthy w/ hints of leather; a bit hot neat. Finish: long and spicy w/ hints of nuts and vanilla. A winner in my book. -
Glenmorangie The Original 10 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed November 2, 2016 (edited April 24, 2018)Nose: fruity with a touch of almonds and honey. Palette: sweet but not overly, a touch of orange zest, dry, a bit of a burn neat. Finish: quick and dry with some light spice. All around a good beginner's scotch. -
Green Spot Single Pot Still
Single Pot Still — Ireland
Reviewed July 26, 2016 (edited August 14, 2016)I could write a book. Flavors are so different depending on neat or a splash of water. The main items that stand out (nose and palette) are the intense cereal, vanilla, and sweet orange. A nice thick feel in the mouth. Finish is quick and dry. Best Irish whiskey I've had to date! Not quite a 5 but a 4.5 or better for sure.
