Tastes

Nice mix of spice and sherry. Balanced and interesting. Would love a longer finish. But all in all, a bottle I'd be happy to give and receive.

Perfect example of big and bold, complex and lasting (finish not the bottle). Special occasion due to the price but no regrets in spending large for this expression. Magnificent.

A little too much candy in a good way. Like chocolate covered bacon. But heaviness obscures some of the detail and complexity. Big and bold and sweet and smokey. A great bottle for the price. Best of Laphroaig honey and Lagavuli smoke combined.

A very light and lively Laphroaig with hints of trademark peat and sweet but carried forth on wisps of highland softness. Slightly less of a finish due to presumably heavy grain use in blend. But daring and different for Laphroaig lovers who seek a bit more fun in the dram. Like some of their lighter Cardias offerings but with greater complexity.

Not as much of a knock-ut punch as its cask-strength cousin. Still delicious but lacking the intensity and shorter on the finish. But would gladly buy again.

Had this twice and one bottle was decidedly more fruity than the other. Both were delicious. But the Solist from the UK Masters of Malt was a citrus fruit bomb baked by luscious warmth and toffee/caramel sweetness. Loved it even neat.

My bottle was supper malty and dare I say nutty. Pleasant cheery notes behind the wood and the weird nuttiness actually are on me by mid-bottle. Intensity of flavor was there like all Kavalan whiskeys that I've had the pleasure to try. For the price, no complaints.

The negative on this is clearly price. But the taste is dynamite. It's Blue but with added complexity and depth wrapped around the awesome smoothness of Blue. Would so love another bottle if I could fined for $225ish. But above that, it's hard to justify despite it being so darn delicious.
