Named for an indigenous tribe of Northern Taiwan, Kavalan distillery has had the unique privilege of setting the paradigm of what Taiwanese whisky is. The distillation process is specifically tuned to yield a spirit that harnesses the benefits of aging in a tropical climate. As the name suggests, this is a single-cask bottling aged in a first-fill ex-bourbon cask. It is also bottled at cask strength so ABV may vary from bottle to bottle.

Tasting Notes

"Very sweet and somewhat forceful on the nose, this whisky is chock full of vanilla, Ceylon cinnamon, and creamy tropical fruit. The palate is deeply layered, with flavors both exotic and familiar: mango lassi, wintergreen, candied pineapple, licorice root and sweet toffee cookie. Adding water tames the heat somewhat, but also mutes some of the flamboyant tropical flavors and brings out a more conventional cereal background note. "
