Teeling Small Batch Irish Whiskey
Blended — Ireland
Reviewed December 3, 2018 (edited January 17, 2019)Nose: Honey, corn, and the rum flavours showing through in the background Palate: honey, quite a bit of spices, vanilla Finish: Sweet finish with some warmth from not just the higher alcohol content, but also the barrel notes. Before I tried this whiskey, I always thought that grain = cheap. While this blended Irish is the entry-level Teeling, it really redefines what a blended whiskey can be. It costs quite a bit higher than base Jameson, but this is a whole different level. The rum cask really puts an exotic spin on top of a pretty classic base. I give it 3.25 because the flavour profile are (although well done) not what I like; but it will be rated higher from someone more objective. And a lot of people would LOVE this.55.0 CAD per Bottle -
Glenlivet 12 Year Double Oak
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed August 13, 2018 (edited January 17, 2019)This is a classic fruity & floral Speyside whisky; not as sweet as sherrybombs like Glenrothes, it is nonetheless a great beginner/everyday whisky. Nose: Light and floral, with apple, citrus and honeysuckle. Palate: Apple, vanilla, malt Finish: medium finish. Apple and almonds This is a must have if you like light and floral Highlands; it might just become your standby. On a side note, this whisky has a little more “assertiveness” than many whiskys in a similar flavor profile, which means that it’s light enough to be a background, but exciting enough to be the primary focus.58.0 CAD per Bottle -
Nose: Dominant grain sharpness, honey and a little bit of apple. Palate: Honey and vanilla that turns into water, but comes back with a burst of barrel spice. Tastes thin. Finish: short, thin. I buy this to make Irish coffee, and that’s pretty much it. It’s less complicated and more obtrusive than budget Jameson; get that instead if you want the cheapest Irish you can get. But honestly, spend a few more dollars and get Red/Black Bush or Jameson Caskmates; the difference is night and day.30.0 CAD per Bottle

Highland Park 12 Year
Single Malt — Islands, Scotland
Reviewed July 30, 2018 (edited January 17, 2019)Nose of honey and citrus. Palate of honey and candied oranges, peaty smoke, sea salt and ginger spice. The finish is long and a little woody. It's a very good, lightly peated scotch at the right price; when I want a lightly peated scotch for every occaision, I usually reach for this or Bowmore 12.70.0 CAD per Bottle
