Barrell Seagrass
Rye — (bottled in) Kentucky, Multiple Countries
Reviewed December 20, 2021 (edited December 28, 2021)Nose: bright, bit of ethanol. Zest of fruit peel. Carmel Palate: fruit, fruit and more fruit. Rum sweetness, I also get a jolly rancher candy note. It’s lovely. Also brandy on the finish. Overall: it’s damn good. Well balanced. Not overly sweet with an incredible nose. This bottle is a homerun. Don’t leave it on the shelf. -
Nose: it’s all here. Brown sugar, vanilla, Carmel, slight ethanol Palate: buttery good flavors. Carmel, barrel spice, vanilla Finish: slight tingling on the middle of the tongue. Not a long finish. Goes down really easily. Overall: it’s a great pour. They got it all right the proofing, the flavors and the nose. Also at 45 dollars it’s a gem. I have had the toasted too it’s 100 dollars more. I find this is just as good for 100 dollars less.

The nose is lovely Palate: barrel spice, Carmel, vanilla frosting, orange zest Finish. Long and lingers. Tingle on the back of tongue. Overall: this 2021 release is 131.3 proof and it drink like it’s 90 proof. Little to no burn. I hate saying “smooth” but that’s exactly what it is. Complex and delicious and very smooth. 9/10. The issue is it’s 250-300 dollars. I probably won’t buy another simply due to the cost. But it’s damn delicious. My bottle is #3843 -

Balcones ZZ Top Tres Hombres
Other Whiskey — Texas, USA
Reviewed December 13, 2021 (edited July 2, 2022)Nose: honey, Carmel and vanilla Palate: Carmel, barrel spice and Texas funk. I don’t know what Texas funk is but being a Texan and having tried loads of Texas drams this definitely has that Texas funk. Finish: long and lingers. Call it a Texas hug. There’s a hint of some sort of floral at the very end reminded me of juniper berry. Overall: not a bad pour. Very different sort of bourbon. I’d have another glass. -
