This is not a dill rye. Finish: rye spice with sweetness. Overall: man this is so good. It’s not old scout smooth ambler cask strength rye good but what is. It’s solid and I went back for a second pour. -
Redwood Empire Grizzly Beast Bottled in Bond Bourbon (Spring 2016 Vintage)
Bourbon — California, USA
Reviewed January 2, 2022 (edited March 6, 2022)Nose: cinnamon red hot candies, Vanilla and some ethanol Palate: barrel spice, brown sugar, pepper and something earthy like pine or woody. Finish: it doesn’t linger. No big hug here. Peppery piney spice on the back of the palate. Overall: it’s really solid pour. Placing this next to their expression “lost monarch” and it falls a bit short. But it’s solid. I’d recommend picking one up. -

Rebel Distiller's Collection Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky , USA
Reviewed December 31, 2021 (edited August 9, 2022)Nose: neat: ethanol (on ice) Carmel and vanilla Palate: vanilla, tobacco, Carmel and red hots on the finish. I really love that cinnamon red hot finish on this one. Overall: it’s great. I got one as a gift and the other from a friend who purchased it for me. I really dig this dram. It’s a damn fine pour either neat or on an ice ball. I will say the ice ball open this bad boy up and Carmela and brown sugar cinnamon with through the roof. Definitely worth grabbing one. -
Nose: Carmel, vanilla and brown sugars. Palate: rock star palate. I’m not kidding. It’s like it’s sourced from Buffalo Trace and the Blantons barrels except at cask strength. It’s all here. Brown sugar, vanilla, Carmel a bit of tobacco. It’s so good. Finish: it’s a great finish. It lingers and it’s got a great Texas hug. Overall: I’ve had the regular strength a year ago and I said to my wife that is good but it’s missing something. Well it was proof. That’s what it needed. They have really done this dram a service by giving us cask strength. Don’t leave it on the shelves.

Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr. Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 29, 2021 (edited January 15, 2022)Nose: slight vanilla, slight Carmel. Little to no ethanol. You can tell this is a well done dram off the nose. Palate: brown sugar, Carmel, vanilla and slight barrel spice. Maybe light green apple Finish: lingers with nice hug on the end. Overall: it’s as good as advertised. It’s damn near perfect. And if you get it at retail which in Nc was 40 dollars it’s Impossible to beat for the money. There’s no comparison for the money. Excellent in all facets. Highly recommend grabbing a bottle. I know it’s hard to come by but stay the course it’s worth it. -
Nose: apricots, Carmel, some orange zest Palate: more fruit notes. Light apple crips, Carmel, vanilla Finish: long and lingers. The heat radiates throughout you chest. Big hug. Overall: this is a fantastic pour. Triple distilled so it’s beyond easy to drink. It’s well balanced and taste great. Definitely worth the search for this one and the cost.

Nose: ethanol and butterscotch, Vanilla and maybe a hint of some orange zest. Palate: easy to drink, light and little to no ethanol burn. “Smooth” I know y’all whiskey drinker hate that but that what it is. Super smooth. Finish: this is the crux of the dram in this case. It has no finish. It’s nothing, gone as soon as it came. That’s the difference in this expression getting higher marks. It’s just not there. Overall: a damn good pour but it’s more hype than anything else. If this finished like there barrel proof this would be a hitter. Ok I’ve come back to this bottle two days ago. It’s got some air in and man is it a hitter. I gave it a 3.5 originally. It’s easily a 4 out of 4 now.

Good Times Rye Barrel strength
Rye — Indiana , USA
Reviewed December 22, 2021 (edited June 24, 2022)Nose: cherries, vanilla, Carmel. A slight ethanol punch Palate: reminds me of those chocolate covered boozy cherries with some vanilla cake and graham cracker crust. It’s buttery with pops of cherry candy shell. Finish: Long and it lingers with barrel spices that tingles your tongue. The finish taste reminds me of the little Debbie Christmas cakes. Big vanilla cake frosting at end. Unbelievable Overall: This is a smoking barrel bourbon society barrel pick. They picks the dram and the finishings. It’s my first ever 5 I’ve given. Glad I bought two.80.0 USD per Bottle
