Nose: a sherry, Carmel, vanilla bomb on the nose. Palate: light vanilla, sherry Finish: Silky wine fruit finish Fantastic pour. I highly recommend it. If you looking for a similar dram try Yellowstone “Amarone” it has a bigger nose than this derringer but is very close in all other area. However it falls short price point. It’s 129 dollars vs the derringer’s 85 dollars. All in all this is great. It’s steep in cost but it’s a damn good pour.

Too sweet. Needs to be cut with something for me to enjoy it. The nose smells like pancakes. It’s wonderful. The palate one note- super syrup sweet. Like drinking pancake syrup

Classic bourbon nose. Carmels, brown sugar, vanilla and ethanol Palate has some citrus forward notes. Sweet mid palate. Pretty damn good pour. Don’t like the price tag but it’s solid

It’s Basil Hayden so the low proof hurts this offering IMHO. The nose is better than the dram. The taste is short, thin and unremarkable. I have avoided BH and finally caved. It exactly what I expected. I saw someone post is better than EC toasted. IMO that a huge reach. EC toasted has all that marshmallows, Vanilla , Carmel and graham cracker tastes you expect from a toasted but it’s 14 proof points higher so it makes for richer flavors. Personally I wouldn’t buy this again.

If you looking for a similar dram try rabbithole “derringer” it has a lessor nose than this yellowstone but is very close in all other area. And surpasses in flavor profile IMO. It’s better still at 85 dollars than 129 dollars. Had I the choice I’d go with the RH

More of one of those peppery ryes. I’m more of a sweet finish rye myself. This is a solid pour. The middle palate does have a sweet note that doesn’t linger but it’s nice. For the price of this bottle though I would expect more complexity

Got this on a whim. Pleasantly delightful. Nose: citrus, vanilla Palate: apples at start, vanilla in middle and rye spices to finish. I’d buy this again in a heart beat.

Nose: Carmel, brown sugar, vanilla, toasted breads. That nose is s’mores! Palate: graham cracker, marshmallows, vanilla cake frosting with barrel spice. This is great Overall: buy 1 every time you see it. It’s rare and it’s so good. I’ve been luck to come across a few.

Nose: Carmel, vanilla, brown sugar. Palate: more Carmel to floral finish. Good proof. Stands up in a cocktail. Great neat or over a block. Over all Great bottle. I will always have one on the shelf.

I’ve heard the store picks of old elk can be sublime. This offering is solid but at 88 proof come off a bit thin for my taste. All and all a solid pour
