Don Julio 70 Añejo Claro Tequila
Tequila Añejo — Los Altos, Jalisco, Mexico
Reviewed February 7, 2019 -
I want to preface this all with I haven’t had a chance to try Weller’s 12 year or antique, but I’m an extreme fan of buffalo trace distillery in gent with my fav of theirs being Eagle Rare, and having fond memories of a glass of Blanton’s (been awhile); and with Buffalo Trace itself being a pretty smooth and balanced cheap bottle. With all that said, I’m not the biggest fan of this one. It’s harsh on the front end and a very almost bitter aftertaste, not the smoothest either. Maybe I was having an off day, but I don’t know if I’d buy another.

Clase Azul Tequila Reposado
Tequila Reposado — Los Altos, Jalisco, Mexico

Balvenie Caribbean Cask 14 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed December 11, 2018 (edited January 17, 2019)I haven’t had the other balvenie bottles to compare, but this is pretty good. I personally am a bourbon fan, and I tend to lean on the sweater side of whiskey in general. Peat is not my forte, but for a single malt this is up there for me. Smooth, with a bite on the front end and medium finish. If you’re trying to break into scotch, not the worst place to start.
