Tastes

Nose is honey, vanilla, orange creamsicle, and spicey malts. Taste is brown sugar sweets, peppery spice, vanilla, butter, and cream. Finish is thick, malty, and spicey

Nose is peat, seaweed, and maybe boiled peanuts. Taste is rich bacon smoke, cereal sweetness, and some peat. Finish is warm and smokey.

Nose reminds me of tequila at first. Some peat, earthy smoke, and brine. Taste is more briney smoke, a bit of baked sweetness, and some spice. Finish is spicey and smokey.

Nose is juniper, pine, citrus, grass, and a touch of vanilla. Really smells like gin mixed with a bit of young whiskey, very interesting! Taste is spicey, pine, lemon peel, and malt, with some alcohol heat up front. Finish is more of a classic young bourbon, a bit of pine, and some alcohol heat. Definitely a different whiskey, I am happy I also love gin.

Regular laphroaig 10 amazed me as my first taste of peated scotch. I’ve since tried expressions from multiple Islay distilleries and other peated whiskeys. This cask strength 10 is definitely at the top of my list from what I have tried. Nose is smokey, vanilla, caramelly malt, a touch of brine, and raisin. Overall much sweeter than I expected. Taste is peat smoke, dense woody brine, raisin sweetness, and a tannic bitterness that fills the mouth. Absent for me is the iodine note form regular 10. Finish lingers for at least a minute. The heat from the proof and the astringency fades ever so slowly with the brine and smoke lingering as well. Outstanding whiskey, especially for the price.

Nose is rye spice, smoke, brine, sardine, and dark bread. Taste is very spicey, bitter smoke, seaweed, and brine. Finish is a mix of brine and rye spice, with a lot of alcohol heat.

Nose is classic vanilla, caramel, oak, and a touch of cherries. Taste is more vanilla, lots of oak, and butterscotch. Finish dries out nicely and has a bit of heat.

Nose is rye spice, vanilla, oak, and grass. Taste is dry spice, wet grass, tobacco, oak, and a touch of sweetness. Finish is an oily spice.

Nose has honey, raisins, vanilla, and biscuits. Taste is more honey, raisin, shortbread, and some oak. Finish is sweet and smooth.
