Based in Ilhéus, in the south of Bahia, Cachaça Rio do Engenho has its origins in the region of land that was once home to the first sugar cane mill in Brazil. The sugarcane that flourished there in 1537 for the manufacture of sugar, ceased to exist along with the mill, which became ruins. However, planting was resumed in 2005, with a new structure and a new purpose: to transform the fermented sugarcane juice into a genuinely Brazilian distillate. The owners came from Campinas, in the interior of São Paulo, to Ilhéus in search of quality of life. Farms, plantations and cachaça were things that had never been part of their daily lives. Graduated in Chemistry and Computer Science, Luiz Fernando Galletti participated, in 2004, in the master still course held by the Technology Center in Cachaça (CTC). Initially, the idea was to produce a drink for friends, as a hobby, but the business took on different proportions and became professional. Premium cachaça with 1 year of aging (European Oak). Amber in color, with characteristic aromas of almonds, caramel and nuts. Alcohol content: 38%. Source: Cachaçaria Nacional & Rio do Engenho webistes.10.0 USD per BottleExpocachaça

CACHAÇA GUARACIABA EXTRA PREMIUM CARVALHO FRANCES
Cachaça — Guaraciaba, Minas Gerais, Brazil
Reviewed July 11, 2024In 1960, José Maria Santana, better known as Zé Santana, began to produce cachaça in a small watermill in Guaraciaba, Minas Gerais. The product was sold and delivered on the back of donkeys by the tropeiros. The fame of cachaça spread throughout the region and demand increased, causing the mill to be replaced by a larger one, powered by steam. Five years later, the Guaraciaba brand was registered, and the troop of donkeys was replaced by a truck. In a short time, it was already one of the favorite drinks in the capital. Today, Cachaça Guaraciaba is managed by Zé Santana's successor and manufactured between June and October, producing from 400,000 to 600,000 liters of cachaça per year. Cachaça Guaraciaba Extra Premium Carvalho Francês is aged for three years in French oak barrels. The name of this cachaça is a tribute to Dona Beja. At the age of 15, due to her impressive beauty, Dona Beja was kidnapped by a Portuguese nobleman and was forced to become his lover for years. Known for her beauty and power of seduction, Dona Beja accumulated a fortune and was a controversial and influential character in the Brazilian imperial period, in the region of Araxá, state of Minas Gerais. The history of Cachaça Dona Beja began in 1884, when it was manufactured in a mill located in Morrinhos, in the interior of Goiás. The place belonged to the family of Disa Maria Morais Marques, mother of Mário Morais Marques, current owner of Dona Beja. The cachaça produced at this time was called Cachaça Rainha and was manufactured until 1986. In 1970, Virgílio Marques, married to Disa Maria, received the teachings and secrets of making and aging cachaça from his wife's family to continue the tradition. Using the same recipe, he took over production at the mill and renamed the cachaça to Cachaça do Virgílio. In 1992, in Araxá, Minas Gerais, the century-old process was restarted and the distillate was renamed Cachaça Dona Beja. Since then, he has been carrying out work to publicize and strengthen the product. Cachaça is a product that comes from a century-old recipe and still, but its difference lies in tradition, family values, the production process, the secret of aging, hygiene and, above all, the passion with which this product is made. designed with the sole objective of pleasing its customers. The name of the gin is a tribute from the producer to his grandfather Mário de Lassaleti. The origin of the name comes from Our Lady of La Salette, the invocation given to the Virgin Mary in her appearances on the mountain of La Salette, in the French Alps region. Lassaleti then appeared, a Gin from the mountains of Minas Gerais created in 2020, London Dry Gin bottled only with the HEART OF THE DISTILLATION. 18 FRESH and rigorously selected botanicals: Juniper, Coriander, Pitanga, Licorice, Almonds, Sicilian Lemon, Ginger, Nutmeg, Cinnamon, Pink Pepper, Hibiscus, Bahian Orange, Tangerine, Angelica, Pacová, Jamaica Pepper, Lavender and Cucumber. Tasting note: “It has an exotic and interesting aroma, with earthy and herbaceous notes, lots of turmeric and ginger. The palate is quite elegant, quite spicy and not very earthy, with a good amount of juniper and a touch of citrus. It has a lot of character and evolves well on the palate.” GOLD MEDAL IN BRUSSELS 2021 Feedback: “Light color. An explosion of aromas on the nose, showing notes of citrus fruits, lemon, flowers and spices. Notes of juniper, ginger, nuts and allspice. Refreshing and bright, with a range of flavors from citrus to spice. Dry style with a beautiful juniper tone. Well-balanced and smooth texture with an oily touch, perfect harmony and long lasting. Perfect combination of aromas with beautiful balance, soft texture and an incredibly long finish.” The base of a traditional gin is good grain alcohol. Wanting the best, we use alcohol made from corn. We distill the gin in a copper still with steam baskets. Our water is collected from an artesian well in Minas Gerais, ensuring purity and balance for the recipe. Juniper, the main ingredient in GIN, is chosen and imported from Italy and Germany, standardizing our process and certifying the quality of the product. Our protagonist Pitanga added all the necessary Brazilianness with floral and herbaceous notes. Aiming to enhance Brazilian ingredients, we added Pacová, very similar to Cardamom with spicy and refreshing notes. Balancing the aromas we use Bahia Orange, Sicilian Lemon and Tangerine with citrus and floral notes. Finishing with freshness and smoothness, the Lavender and Cucumber were placed in our steam basket, where we delicately incorporated these ingredients into the distillation.
