Give this one time to settle down and open up and you will be rewarded. A drop of water sets this dram free and the cavalcade of flavors may surprise you. There is a sweetness to this Malt that upon first introduction, you may have thought unlikely if not impossible. Looking forward to trying the rest of their range. 88/100

Glenlivet 12 Year Double Oak
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed March 1, 2018 (edited September 12, 2020)Glenlivet and I go back over 20 years. My attachment to it is partly sentimental I know, but I am not ashamed to say that I love this Malt. I have tried many a Malt over that time, some jaw dropping others not so much, and I know how Glenlivet stacks up. Yes its mass produced, and chill filtered, and colored and bottled at a less than ideal 40%, and I don’t care I still love it. I love it because it introduced me to one of my favorite things in this universe, Scotch Whisky. Sláinte! -
Old Pulteney 12 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed March 1, 2018 (edited November 25, 2019)I’ve been partaking of this fabulous dram for over a decade, and what goes in those casks is some of the finest malt in Scotland. Those casks have varied over the years from absolutely fabulous to mediocre. Luckily I’ve had way more good than not. If you like Single Malt Whisky and you have yet to try this dram, that needs to change. Amazing what 5 more years of maturation does to this Malt. 90/100 -
Auchentoshan American Oak
Single Malt — Lowlands, Scotland
Reviewed March 1, 2018 (edited August 20, 2018)Some poor quality casks did this young single malt no favors. The 40% ABV and loads of caramel color didn’t help either. Picked up a bottle on sale for $27 and felt I paid too much. Very disappointing single malt and it is unlikely I will pay money to sample the rest of their range. -
