it seems that i haven't been disappointed with an e.h. taylor product yet & this was no exception. wonderfully balanced & sweet.

2/2018 #4484 this stuff at 90 proof obviously doesn’t punch you in the mouth like ECBP, but what it does is practice the art of subtlety. it’s a damn good change-of-pace sipping bourbon that blankets your mouth in flavor. the finish is nice & warm as well. very enjoyable.

a sleeper surprise for me at our 2019 whiskey fest. great balance of rye, sweetness & proof. very impressive.

being familiar with the willett ryes, the taste is somewhat similar, which is a good thing. without the licorice/rye notes in the flavor, the initial strong palate sweetness covers the mouth. the 120+ proof doesn't get in the way of the great finish.

slightly reminiscent of westland winter but easier to drink. has the dark sweetness & a bit of a smokey kick, more than what the reviewer claims. it fades to a nice if not somewhat short finish. REVISED REVIEW: after spending time with it, it's better than my initial review. with the addition of the absolutely yummy stout beer on the finish, it's a unique set of flavors that have impressed everyone i've shared it with.

tasted twice from sample from friend. first nose was sweet, but kind of soapy sweet. not very pleasant. palate equaled the nose. tried it again a few days later (i rinsed out my glass to make sure it was clean). the nose has brightened & cleaned up. palate has plenty of ice wine sweetness. it’s the sweetest scotch i’ve ever had. overall it fits my sweet tooth profile, but i'm glad i didn't spend $300 on it.

decent taste but it's almost masked by the proof rolling over the palate. tried neat & ice. ice brought out a sweet streak, but not enough to overcome the tartness. overall not bad but not a go to.

the more rye in the mashbill, the more my palate tends to enjoy the experience & this drink is no exception. a little more floral than others (due to the higher barley content?), but has a satisfying rye spice & a sweet floral finish. for the money it's hard to beat.

even knowing the tasting notes, the whiskey still needs to be a bit brighter for me, whether that means slightly sweeter or a bit more typical japanese whiskey notes. tasted better with food though. either way it just doesn't quite do it for me to make it a go to drink.
