Mild maple and vanilla notes on the nose, very bright and fresh smelling. Don’t really have the pallet vocab to describe these types of bourbons but this reminds me of the Basil Haydens I just had. It’s less sweet and more mild with oak/nut notes vs super full sugary brown sugar and maple syrup flavors. Bit of a caramel hard candy sweetness in the middle. A lot of the flavor comes towards the end where it points at the tip of your tongue where it’s more oaky. For the ABV this is a very nice and easy drinker. Deff a good bourbon to show to my bourbon newbies who have never tried bourbon before.Havertown

Jefferson's Ocean Aged at Sea Voyage 23
Bourbon — USA
Reviewed March 28, 2021 (edited June 24, 2021)Very spicy cinnamon sugar notes on the nose with a beautiful strong aroma. Tasty spiky maple body on the first sip that lingers long after it goes down. More of a high rye kind of sting vs a uncomfortable ethanol burn. Really nice maple sugar body with a cinnamon burn to finish and hints of barrel notes at the very end. This bourbon is right up my alley taste wise and the story behind it makes it even cooler and more enjoyable.70.0 USD per BottleHavertown -
Blanton's Original Single Barrel
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 28, 2021 (edited April 15, 2021)Typical bourbon profile on the nose with sweet sugar/vanilla aroma, but not overly strong smelling. Very subdued and mild on first sip and 2nd sip. Pleasant taste with a building earthy/barrel note that grows toward the tip of your tongue. Still has that classic sweet bourbon body but it’s much more skinny and less dense than a lot of bourbons I’ve had. Very easy sipper with very low ethanol taste, I could drink this all night.18.0 USD per PourBrick & Brew -
Very warm and rich sweet cocoa notes on the nose with a bit of ethanol if you breath it in too strongly. First sip it is VERY apparent this is a higher ABV than most bourbons I drink. This will (as my dad would say) grow hair on your chest. Definitely not something I will give to a new bourbon drinker. Ethanol bite sinks in the back of your throat but slowly builds into it. Has a definitive spice to it but not in a bad way, just a different profile than what I’m used to. Gets better and less aggressive as the ice ball melts. Overall a very complex and rollercoaster of flavors and profiles, I’m excited to come back to this one.55.0 USD per BottleHavertown

Very sweet and maple syrup smell, with a faint cough syrup/medicinal note. Punches you in the throat on the first sip and lights up the whole palette. Even taste with moderate sweetness and flavor. Towards end of the taste there’s a definitive ethanol burn/lingering on the tongue. Whatever is in this clings to the tongue for a while. Over all I would say this is a very even keeled bourbon with a nice flavor profile, if you don’t mind a bit of ethanol sting and medicinal smell then you’ll enjoy the bourbon.50.0 USD per BottleHavertown

Light sugar aroma on the nose, not horribly strong or complex smelling. First sip was light and smooth classic bourbon flavor but not very sweet or super maple sugar. Lower ABV makes this have a nearly non existent ethanol taste which is nice. Lights up the tip of the tongue on the finish with barrel notes and hints of roasted peanut or tree nut. More of a woody and less sweet bourbon. Would describe this flavor profile as pleasant but “skinny”. It still has more flavor than the LongBranch wild turkey, but not as rich or maple flavored as some other bourbons.45.0 USD per BottleHavertown

On the nose: sweet and very aromatic with notes of cinnamon and almost candy cane/Christmas smells. First sip has a strong punch and lights up all taste buds with a cinnamon apple spice. Notes is sour apple on 2nd and 3rd sip. Definitely a lively and punchy bourbon similar is flavor profile to Elijah Craig. The more I drink it I start to get other flavors like wherthers butterscotch candy. Overall I really like this one.Havertown

Very mild and kind of dull on my first glass of it ever. Very cinnamon on the nose. Doesn’t have a lot of the bourbon sweetness or brown sugar flavors I am used to. It almost reminds me of Monkey Shoulder a little bit with the aftertaste being sort of petey. I’ll have to revisit another glass later but in first glass impressions the coolest part about this is the bottle itself and it being linked to Matt, actual taste isn’t bad but just nothing special or even super solid.Havertown

Been a week or so since I’ve tried this bourbon and I like it a lot more. Was maybe too hard on it for the first time. Very nice vanilla notes and brown auger on the nose. Nice little lingering bite to it with cinnamon on the body, almost Hot Tamale list. Less sweet than some other bourbons I’ve tried but that’s okay. Overall a really solid bourbon.Havertown
