Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Bourbon Batch C923
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 20, 2024 (edited November 8, 2024)A lot tasting notes have already been discussed. My review is simple. This is one of the best bourbons I have tasted, and after taking a drink, I will sometimes realize the finish has stayed with me for a VERY long time. BTAC bottles beat it out, but not by alot. -
Benchmark Full Proof Bourbon (125 Proof)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 2, 2024 (edited September 23, 2024)Light-ish buttery/maple vanilla with some oak for me. My review and score includes value. I think this is a great high proof bourbon, and I will definitely get bottles as I see them. I think I would rather have two bottles of this than one bottle of Wild Turkey Rare Breed, even though I think RB is more complex. I find the taste profile of BM FP pleasing to my likes enough to make this statement. I recommend, with a high recommendation if you like Buffalo Trace. -
I'm rating this a 3.25 just because realistically there are so many more complex bourbons out there. BUT, if I'm at the airport or a bar, I will 7 times out of 10 order this Maker's Mark unless I see a great deal on a pour I've been wanting to try. I love wheated bourbons, and Maker's is my go to (given that WSR is not always findable). In fact, the Maker's line is hard to beat for value. In any case, good vanilla and oak in this one. If you see me at the airport, I'm probably sipping on this!

Caramel, Oat, Nuts and Vanilla for my palate. I love the palette but only liked the nose. Having said that, I popped this cork a while ago and came back to it for round two. I enjoy it a lot more this time around. Great bourbon, maybe a little overpriced, but it is a restock. It is between a daily drinker and special occasion drink for me. I think if this was $15 less expensive it would be a top 10 overall bourbon for me, considering all facts rolled into one. It is almost there though.

Four Roses Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 19, 2023 (edited September 10, 2023)Though I am not typically a fan of hig rye bourbons, some do make my VIP section in my home bar. FRSB is definitely one of those elite high ryes. I get spicy oak and cherry notes, and for me, a good moderately long finish. I get this at costco for a good price, and I have not had a bad batch yet. The spicy oak and cherries are pretty consistent across all the bottles I have owned. As a daily drinker this is a 8.75 for me. Not a special occasion drink but I wouldn’t drink this bottle down with just anyone. -
Eagle Rare 10 Year Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 19, 2023 (edited September 9, 2023)For my tastes, this is one of my favorite bourbons. I get a sweet vanilla and cherry flavor some chewy caramel. I think it has very little alcohol burn, and i enjoy the oak character. I would pay just above retail, though i prefer not to. I would need to be out of my ER reserves. I give this a 9 out of 10 for a daily drinker. As much as I love it, its not a special occasion pour. -
Blanton's Original Single Barrel
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 19, 2023 (edited August 21, 2023)Caramel and rye spice for me. I love BT’s low rye and wheated option a whole lot more, but it is worth a try at retail. Hype beast, but not worth secondary. I think the bottle is awesome, and it should be had to see if you like this mash bill. I would rate it a 6.5 out of ten. -
Weller Special Reserve Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 19, 2023 (edited August 21, 2023)A very approachable bourbon, sweet and little bite. Divisive due to availability in many areas. At retail or very slightly above it ($35 max-if usually not available), it is a must have. It is definitely a daily drinker and not a special occasion pour, but I find it great for its zone.21.0 USD per BottleCostco Wholesale
