Lagavulin DE 1997 43% Double matured NOSE: spicy oak, light peat, sherry, caramel TASTE:  earthy, smokey, salty, sherry Water - 2 drops water NOSE: cinnamon, oak, muddy earth TASTE: dark caramel, salt, sherry NOTE: water did not diminish the flavor of the 1997 1997 is very comparable to the 1991 which was equally outstanding

NOSE: sawdust, burnt sugar, sugar cane TASTE:  strong menthol, citrus Water - light water flattened flavor. NOSE: Floral, leathery TASTE: same menthol and citrus just flattened out No water needed

NOSE: spice, coriander seed, feinty, salty, grassy, medicine TASTE: earthy, grassy, oak, salt, medium peat   Water - Light water  NOSE: very little change, more water, starts to open up Softens up, lighter oak, light smoke TASTE: good balance, coats the tongue with salty sweet, oak

NOSE: caramel, oak, tar, TASTE:  sweet caramel, sulfury molasses, tobacco Water - three drops NOSE: oak, toffee, TASTE: burnt sugar, dark caramel

NOSE: Distinctive Macallan, earthy, grassy TASTE:  Caramel, crème brûlée, sweet tobacco Water -  few drops NOSE: nice spice and vanilla TASTE: Water really opens it up. Very pleasant. Sweeter, very nice
