Knob Creek 9 Year Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky , USA
Reviewed February 11, 2022 (edited March 19, 2022)Wanna crush some ego's and break some hearts? Put this guy in a blind with some hard to find allocated bottles! Initial nose of tobacco, char and smoke. After few drinks it balances out with some rich vanilla's and butterscotch. The mouth feel is creamy and sets it apart. Front of the palate is balanced with a nice spice then sweetness. Back of the palate goes spicey with a nice rich tobacco sweetness. The finish is long on oak, char and dusty peanut. The butterscotch sticks around for a nice sweet go bye! -
Big initial nose of tobacco. It is then followed by a dominant spice and heat, but as you spend more time with it many more layers start to open up - burnt sugars and butterscotch help balance the spice and heat. If you dig even deeper, after a few sips you'll find some dark fruit / plum or cherry, chocolate and walnut. The mouth feel is nice and spice again dominates the front of the palate, the charred oak and proof start to dry the tongue a bit but towards the back end a chocolate and nutty note bring back the balance. A cherry flavored tobacco and clove note lead to a long, drying and leathery finish. Edit: after finishing the review I continued to enjoy my glass and realized the finish has a finish! A everlasting cinnamon note!

Wilderness Trail 6 Year Bottled in Bond Bourbon (Wheated Bourbon)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 18, 2021Juicy fruit bubble gum - melon sweetness on the initial nose - 2nd layer brings out some spice in the form of pepper but quickly balances out with some burnt sugars. Its an approachable proof point Front of the palate is a soft sweetness. Nice, full and smooth mouth feel - Middle palate is cinnamon & peppermint. Back of the palate is oak, spice and a slight earthy note - herbal black Tea? Finish is so-so. Starts out like a spearmint or peppermint tooth paste with a slight hint of cirtus- ends with slightly drying oak tannins. -
Intense nose of molasses and spicey fruit flavored cola on the nose. Front of the palate is a pissed off sweet grape that quickly turns to a raisin like sweetness, as I go back to the nose for a second sip a strong cinnamon and sweet tobacco note appears. Long finish of drying fruit, tobacco and clove spice. Overall an easy bourbon to enjoy - the sweetness, spice and proof make for a well balanced whiskey with a few layers. Batch 13 - 128.4 proof

Johnny Drum Private Stock Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 5, 2021 (edited November 14, 2021)Burnt sugar sweetness on the initial nose. Earthly notes come forward as you spend more time with it - mint, herbal tea and honey - the traditional Willet floral note is there but very mild. Mouth feel is almost creamy, proof is perfect - green tea with honey dominates the palate and the finish is long, savory and sweet. -
Sweet vanilla and honey on the first nose with an alcohol note disguised as hay/grain with some leather as you dig a little deeper. First sip is sweet with honey, its a bit thin and earthy as the honey turns to a bitter or tart grain. Finish is good with a lot of leather notes. Not overly complex with a bit more of an alcohol note then I like but it does have a good balance to it!

Initially nose is of musty, dusty nuttiness but quickly turns to tobacco, spice and banana. The nose carries over to the palate and finishes with a big banana bread and walnut note. Palate is very concentrated with flavor and has a nice mouth feel but lacked enough sweetness to help balance everything out.

Color is a light golden honey. The initially nose of dusty nuttiness turns to a sweet peanut brittle, caramel and toffee, a perfume note also develops after a few drinks. Front of the palate is slightly sweet but a little flat. Fresh grass or hay suggests this is a young whiskey but it does have a nice oak and char note giving it a very earthy type palate, towards the back end an ethanol or alcohol note is there in the form of bitterness and tang. Cool label, cool story and a good bourbon for $20.
