Glenmorangie Lasanta Sherry Cask Finish 12 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed September 30, 2021 (edited November 23, 2021)The nose is a sweet bouquet of candied pecans, Peach Rings candy, salted pretzels and caramel, pancakes and syrup, and marshmallow. The palate boasts a viscous mouthfeel with notes of caramel and honey, wood, baking spices, and Splenda sweetener. The moderate finish has a mild heat, with “pumpkin spice” like nutmeg and cardamom spices sending you off. Overall I’d say the scotch is sweet and mildly interesting, not one I’d get another bottle of though. Sláinte! -
The nose has simple but welcoming notes of orange, strawberry yogurt, and honey. The mouthfeel is mildly oily, and the palate is sweet, with notes like mint, caramel apple, hard cider, and something bread-like, most likely the yeast. The finish isa medium length with a taste that coats the mouth with a crisp ale like flavor. This classic scotch is definitely simple but dang, is it easy to like. I can’t believe I haven’t tried it sooner.

The nose of this shine is sweet and sugary with notes of molasses, apple, and kiwi fruit, with a hint of earthiness. The taste is also sweet, reminiscent of stevia, tangy cake frosting, and lemon. The finish is mellow and warm. It’s simple and sweet; could use more time in a barrel, but very good for a shine. Cheers!

Amrut Fusion Indian Single Malt Whisky
Single Malt — Bangalore, India
Reviewed February 3, 2021 (edited April 12, 2021)On first approach this whiskey is equally sweet and smokey. There are notes of buttery biscuits reminding me of an Irish whiskey, well as pear, peach and peat: 3 powerful P’s. The palate has a watery mouthfeel, and notes that are peaty, salty, milk chocolate-y, and bitter like over steeped black tea. The finish is dry and tangy with peat. -
291 Colorado Straight Bourbon Barrel Proof Finished with Aspen Wood Staves (Batch #1)
Bourbon — Colorado, USA
Reviewed December 21, 2020 (edited June 7, 2022)Oh man, is this bourbon delicious. The nose is heavy, rich, and comes out sweet, yet hot and swinging. Like a WWE ringside girl when someone calls her a b*#%$. Cinnamon Red Hots, oak, cherry, brown sugar, and bakery pastry or pie crust are all notes that fight for attention in this barrel proof beauty. The palate is hot as well. It’s also dry and ashy with a notable taste of Christmas baking spices, namely, cinnamon and cardamom. The bourbon finishes with cinnamon, and a tangy and spiciness, similar to some Asian cuisine. This is a tough whiskey that wants to go down fighting. But once you earn its respect, it’s a friend through and through. I think this is one of the best bourbons I’ve had. I highly recommend! Thanks 291, cheers! -

Reviewed November 18, 2020 (edited April 12, 2021)The nose is dense and rich with vanilla, plum, caramel apple, dusty books, light pipe tobacco, honey, and lemon. The nose is so complex and some notes are so delicate it’s almost scotch-like - wonderful! The palate has a dry mouthfeel, with notes of caramel, cinnamon Red Hots, and orange. The finish is oily and hot at first, but mellows out and is long lasting. Cheers! -
Oban Distillers Edition
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed November 18, 2020 (edited April 30, 2021)Upon first whiff one can definitely tell it’s wine cask finished. After the initial Sherry bomb, (though technically it’s Montilla Fino) one finds notes of candy pecans, heather/honey, and peat smoke. The mouthfeel is dry with a wonderful taste of cashew, saltiness, and earthy tea as well as peat. The finish is medium length, and smokey. I notice it gets better and smokier as it opens up. This is good in my opinion as it starts very fruity and needs this transformation to balance out. I like it, and would recommend it. Sláinte!
