This beautiful Tennessee whiskey is a dark amber color with thick semi-watery legs. Oh man, this nose is good - sweet and balanced. There are notes of heavy brown sugar, graham cracker pie crust, banana bread, cinnamon, and overripe peach and apple. The palate has an oily mouthfeel and reminds me of a fruity dessert. There are delicious notes of orange, red apple, plum, dark chocolate, buttery cinnamon toast, and pepper. The finish is medium length with a black peppery taste being left behind. Cheers!

This delicious bourbon is a beautiful dark copper color with thin oily legs. The nose is sweet and pretty center of the road as far as bourbons go. There’s notes of caramel, vanilla, cherry syrup, baking spices, and chocolate fudge. The palate has an oily mouthfeel and notes of cinnamon, sweet corn, tart cherry, and an ashy smoke taste. It’s very agreeable. The finish is spicy with cinnamon candy and long-lasting. Cheers!

A dark brown leather color hues this value bourbon, and thin oily legs slowly descend the glass walls. There is an amazing nose here! I find notes of orchard fruit, banana, grilled corn, cherry Jolly Rancher, cinnamon, brown sugar, and dusty books. It’s so good! The complex palate of kitchen cooking spices, table syrup, caramel, chocolate malt balls, mild strawberry, and salted pumpkin seeds makes a sweet delectable treat! The lingering finish has a nice earthy quality to it. Cheers!

This organic bourbon (didn’t know that was a thing!) has very thin oily legs seen in the glass and has a nice amber color. The nose is pleasant but not extraordinary with notes of dry straw, green strawberry, honey, lemon, vanilla, and a floral quality. The palate has notes reminiscent of a dessert with burnt caramel, oatmeal, and chocolate, as well as fennel and some barrel spice. The finish is long and hot initially with a tangy spice in the same camp as chicken from a Chinese restaurant. Cheers!

Okay, so this cask strength rye is a coppery rust color with thin watery legs. The nose feels dry and has notes of hay, dry old lumber, dill, and unfortunately, polyurethane. That note is a big turn off for me. The palate is mellow yet almost chewy and has notes consisting of yellow corn, sour herbs, and green strawberry. The finish is not long nor hot considering the proof, and leaves almost a snickerdoodle taste. Cheers!

This experimental whiskey from Storm King Distilling Co. is an orange copper color, with thick viscous legs sticking to the glass walls. The sweet nose is very nice with notes of heavy butterscotch, oatmeal cookie, German chocolate cake, caramel apple, vanilla, and watermelon. The palate has a watery mouthfeel and is very fruity with notes of green apple, dark grapes, peach, buttery cinnamon French toast, tangy Cutie orange and lemon. The finish is lingering with a taste like sweet yogurt raisins. Cheers!

The appearance is like a rosé wine; it has a pinkish hue, hence the name, “Red Horse.” It also has exceedingly thin viscous legs. The complex nose contains notes of rye spice, corn dust, Potpourri, dry white wine, a young moonshine funk, a pile of dead leaves, and Froot Loops cereal. The palate has a watery mouthfeel, is sweet and clean, but has a new make/ moonshiney taste with notes of leather, roasted corn, and bitter rhubarb. The finish is nice with no burn though it’s shorter, and has a dark chocolate taste sending you off. Cheers!

So this local aged moonshine is orange amber in color and has thick viscous legs coming down the glass. The nose is sweet and quite interesting with notes of caramel, cotton candy, strawberry yogurt, Raisin Bran cereal, and dry straw. The palate is simple but sweet with earthiness, Froot Loops cereal, and black tea with Stevia sweetener. There is an initial back of the throat heat, accompanying a medium-long dry finish.

The color of this whiskey treasure is liquid gold, and thin semi-viscous legs grace the glass walls after a swirl. The delectable nose is a balance of fruity & savory and possesses notes of sea salt, mesquite smoke, grilled BBQ, pear and apple, ripe banana, strawberry, and raisins. The palate is delicious with an almost dusty mouthfeel and notes of smoke and pork burnt ends, licorice candy, watermelon, and ripe cantaloupe. The finish is long, fresh and tangy. In my humble opinion, this whiskey sets the bar for the American Single Malt. It is so complex yet welcoming, savory yet sweet, and scotch-like, yet proudly American! I am a big fan and will be buying another bottle! I highly recommend! Sláinte!

This savory scotch is a very light straw yellow color with thin semi-watery legs. I’d describe this nose as spunky; young perhaps, but having good character. There are notes of tar, slight acidity, iodine, sea salt, peaty smoke, graham crackers, burnt marshmallows, and nougat from a candy bar. The palate is savory with notes of my wife’s salted dried seaweed snacks, an earthiness, leather, mint, and Fruit Gushers candy. The finish is long with a taste of thick char and smoke.
