Tastes

This is a very satisfying pour. Strong Scents of vanilla and caramel with maybe a touch cherry. Taste does not disappoint following the nose with a bit of spicy that lingers into the finish. Excellent balance doesn’t come off too proofy or thin. Definite cherry on the finish which isn’t atypical, but definitely a fruitier cherry and not medicinal. Recommended.

Definitely worth the MSRP however not the inflated secondary price. Soft nose with a honey taste which I really like. A tad thin but it’s a 90 proof so not necessarily surprising. Would be interesting to SxS this against Eagle rare and blantons but don’t own this one.

The nose is pleasant enough with light notes of vanilla and caramel, but this drinks quite hot for a 100 proof and since it is BiB it has to be at least 4 years old but I doubt it’s any more than that. Finish is short with pepper on the back end and just one I won’t reach for that often.

This really isn’t a bad bottle and I am no fan of a Texas whiskey. Nose is pleasant enough with sweet notes a just a very slight tinge of ethanol. Taste is fine … traditional with nothing special that makes it stand out but a bit grainy and the finish is short. Won’t buy another but I’ll finish this one

Extremely nice nose …. more bourbon like than rye. Very sweet with some of that rye spice coming through. On the taste, the rye definitely comes through as it drinks like a very well balanced rye and the proof point is spot on with nice warming on the finish without being proofy. An excellent expression. Glad I have a backup.

This is pretty disappointing. Nose is fairly traditional but nothing special. Definitely drinks hotter than 95 proof with a lot of spice coming through and not a lot of OF banana. Finish is very spicy with a touch of cherry. Wouldn’t buy again and would pick OF 100 all day over this.

Tasting was better than I remember. This is extreme sweet. Not a bad bourbon just too sweet for me. A bit of grain on the most and taste. Keep around for non bourbon drinkers.

Very pleasant sipper. Nose is very traditional with notes or vanilla and caramel. Taste follows nose with some spice but nice feel for a 90 proofer. Finish is medium with some back end spice. I can see this as a broad audience crowd pleaser with a little back story as there’s nothing offensive but not nothing wows. It’s good stuff. Not sure what the voyage does … likely a gimmick. I got under MSRP at Costco and though it’s nice and enjoyable I would never pay more than the $55 I laid out. No regrets, but I would not pay full price.

This comes across really hot and not a ton on the taste side. Nose is pretty good but anything from it is masked by the hotness that it kills anything pleasant that comes from the nose. Will give it another chance but first pour was very lacking.

Very vanilla forward and sweet but not too sweet that makes it undrinkable. A little thin on mouthfeel but not bad. Finish medium with taste following nose. Not bad for a finished bourbon and better than OF 1910.
