Gem + Bolt Mezcal with Damiana
Mezcal Joven — Oaxaca , Mexico
Reviewed May 26, 2026 (edited June 4, 2026)Tried something new from the liquor store. Didn't know about the added damiana(or that is a flower) until store owner told me about it. The price point was high for an ok mezcal. 3 stars is average spirit rating for me. N: Floral, alcohol and slight smoke P: Salt, light smoke and floral F: pepper and smoke floral and a lingering mint taste -
N:. Butterscotch, ethanol P: charred almost a like a sherry cask cherry flavor F: pepper,.ethanol and lingering charred oak Hats off to the marketing team because I definitely bought it for the bottle design. Only had it neat and on the rocks so far. Not a huge fan of the flavor profile. This was for the 8 year.

N: sweet, vanilla, wheat P: soft very light wheat F: wheat and pepper New to vodkas. This one is very pleasant on the nose and has and very light soft wheat flavor. Tried chilled neat and in several mixed drinks. It preformed well. Readily available and good price point it seems, to me, to be a solid choice.

N: Light vanilla and ethanol. P: very light flavor cereal and butterscotch F: Spice, dryiness and ethanol and an unenjoyable bitterness that lingers This was given to me so I'm not sure about price point. Only tried it neat and was not for me. Maybe as a mixer but I feel there are much better options out there.

N: Juniper and citrus P: Pretty balanced between juniper and citrus with a little floral and some saltyness Finishes about the same with added pepper. So far I tried it neat, gin and tonic, Negroni and Martini. Negroni was probably it's best but I haven't found a good blend for it yet. Might have to increase the ratio of this gin in my cocktails because it seems to get overpowered easily.
