Tastes

Tasting for flavor drift this time. The old bottle was purchased in 2019 and the new bottle in 2021. The new has a little more spice and more flavor from the wood. But almost a musty wood flavor. The sweet vanilla and spice are still just what I expect from Monkey Shoulder.

Smooth toffee seaweed on the nose, slight caramel toffee scent, almost like caramel popcorn. Salty smooth creamy yet spicy, pepper, and nutmeg.

One of the best everyday drams. Nose of vanilla and cinnamon spice. This was the first time I noticed lemon citrus with a bit of pine, almost herbal, in my dram of Buffalo Trace. Taste the soft spice with sweet vanilla and lemon, green apple.

Warm nose. I smell what reminds me of vanilla and malt. I did not look oily in the dram. The taste reminded me to sweet vanilla with almost a tobacco flavor. Spicy. The finish was not too short or long. The warmth on the nose showed up in the taste. To me it reminded me of the classic sweet vanilla scotch with a small kick of spicy. But not too spicy
