Stronger flavor up front than I prefer, but it opens up nicely. Be patient with this one.

Carmel and toffee notes, vanilla too. The best everyday bourbon, when you can get it.

The spice in this is mild enough to be enjoyed, but I find it pretty unremarkable. Unlikely to seek it out again.

Spicier than Blanton’s at the back, but the nose is similar. Extra long finish makes it ideal for sipping.

This whiskey out-punches it’s weight. It’s brown sugar tones make it perfect for the fall and it’s price point makes me think it will compete well for a place in the liquor cabinet.

Reminds me of the nose of some of the Irish whiskeys I’ve had, and the finish had a hint of peat. Interesting. The kind of drink that creates conversation among those with a cultivated palate.

This is so complex that it’s gone before I figured out what I was drinking and then I would pick up new notes ten minutes later. A challenge to the pallet and so above me.

Pretty firey finish; not my style. 120 proof and burns the whole way down.

I didn’t enjoy this at first, but it grew on me a little and then was embarrassed to see it so highly rated by experts. A nose of sweat and body odor, just like you’d expect from a whiskey called Dad’s Hat. But the finish is smooth for a whiskey, so I have to give them that.

A poor man’s Blanton’s, but it makes for a great gift if you can get it and makes a great night once given. Might be the best bourbon on earth for the price—$25!
