This is the best maker's mark product I have had so far, slightly better than the private selects. I bought an extra bottle. This is top notch. It won easily in a head to head with OWA.

Drank this neat at Cooperage in Philadelphia. Lighter peat than some of the big Islay offerings and sweeter sherry influences. The combination of peat and sherry is enjoyable with neither being overpowering.

Salty and peaty like the 10 year with a tiny bit of sweetness. First impression is that this is as good or better than the 10 year, which I wasn't expecting from the polarizing reviews. Talisker can do no wrong in my book. A wonderful dram with a great price tag. I hope to try the 18 year one day...

My personal favorite Islay Scotch. It's hard to beat out Lagavulin 16 but this does for me (at least for today). Plenty of Peat and smoke but not over-powering like Ardbeg or Laphroaig 10 year expressions. It combines the peat and smoke with citrus. Such a fantastic scotch well worth the price.
