what a great bottle. I know it’s an odd opinion but I prefer this to the 10. has a bit of the soft vegetal smoothness that kilchomans machir bay has, covered by a really aggressive smoke and tar. there’s so many stages to the development of this drink, and that’s what i love about it. smooth green barley, heavy smoke, tar, sherry sweetness, and a peppery spice intermingle and vie for dominance over the course of the journey. it finishes on the tar though, which i have to say is an objectively unpleasant note. retronasal brings back some grassy smoothness though.41.0 USD per Bottle

ah i love calvados. comparing it to lairds american 7.5 year old american apple brandy, i find it MUCH more obviously apple, with sweet red apple and dark cider and a fruity sweetness. i think i find a oak spice in the finish too. lovely. the specific apple varietals unique to calvados farmers, plus the double distillation, really make this shine. always a treat.39.0 USD per Bottle

you know I dont actually like this whisky, but for the price you kind of have to. this scotchs main weakness for me is its sweetness, which isnt either confectionary or the dark smoothness of tawny port of bourbon, but just plain sickly sweet cream. blegh. behind that though theres fruit, mustyness, and peat that isnt at all bad. the more I sip it actually, the more I'm coming around to this. I never really drink blends or grain (as opposed to malt) whisky, so this is definitely a change.20.0 USD per Bottle
