It's a very smoky Whiskey, which is why I use it, to add a bit of smoke to certain cocktails, like a Sazerac or even a Black Manhattan. I don't really like it enough to drink it alone but I do recognize it's quality and uniqueness. I will try other bottles from Laphroaig. I wouldn't be surprised if I find others in their line that I will enjoy a lot more.

Very fruity nose; berries, peach, possibly a bit of tropical fruit like kiwi and banana, fresh tomato, browned butter, burnt sugar, vanilla, delicately floral. The flavor is very subtle, delicate; hay, caramel, red ground pepper. Peppery finish, slightly floral once again, a long burn.72.99 USD per Bottle

Very good, in value, flavour, and body. Very okay, flavours of hay, wheat, and stone. A touch sweet, better on its own than in a cocktail. Really nice for the money. (Plus, the bottle is lovely!) I wouldn't put it with the best whiskeys or Bourbon, but definitely one of the best ryes I've tried (for the money, at least).

Excellent value! This site's description and tasting notes are on the mark, however, there is a stoney woodsy character it doesn't mention that really adds to the body and quality of this (very inexpensive) fine rye! Also fantastic in a classic Old-Fashioned with a small batch aromatic bitters like Dashfire Brandy Old-fashioned bitters!

Reviewed November 8, 2016 (edited October 29, 2017)Not... Great! The main thing this reminds me of is the "Fireball" (or whatever) cinnamon-flavoured whiskey-like "liquor." It has an artificial cinnamon flavour, chemical-like and kind of sicky-sweet. Some may appreciate the over-the-top pine, cinnamon, and potpourri notes and, if you like "Fireball," it IS way better so, you may pick this over that to be classier and avoid all the extra sugary carbs in that liquor. I have had some interesting, fun even, mixed drinks using "Fireball" so this in a mixed drinks as a substitute would probably improve them significantly. It's just not MY style but it may be yours, so try it if it sounds interesting.
